Any word on a more diverse casting? I really appreciated that Cinderella incorporated an African-American actor, especially as the observant and wise advisor who saved the day, and would like to see something similar here.

Every clip I have seen of this movie is the exact same as the animated film. I think we'll be able to look back on this and at least say it was true to the original.
The amount of money that they'll make is obscene when you consider they didn't even have to put together a script... then again, perhaps the genius in the marketing is only showing us things we've seen in the animated film.

I feel like this is a movie I'm going to wait several weeks to see. I would imagine the first couple of weekends are going to be full of diehards trying to sing along and I'd likely be surrounded by people that aren't aware that they can't carry a tune.
And a ton of annoying kids

Seriously, I don't consider this any different than the relationship between Mr. Burns and Smithers.
As long as it's not played awkward like Scotty throwing himself at Dirk Diggler in "Boogie Nights" then I really don't care. A sniveling sycophant pushing down true feelings for his 'hero' doesn't really "gay up" the movie to me.

Good news. This worked with Will & Grace, Modern Family, etc., as former Vice-President Biden has stated, and is especially needed now that Drumpf has shown so much disrespect to the Trans community. The "T" tends to get lost a bit in Social Justice entertainment...hopefully Disney will be more advanced in the future about these rights.

Damn kids! What the hell are they doing at a Disney movie??!
I was 100% convinced this movie would become Disney's all-time highest grossing film because of timing. Original came out in '91 and captivated every female that was 4-12 years old. Those girls are now 30 to 38 years old and many of them now have children that are 4-12 years old. Parents love to share their nostalgia with their kids. EVERY SINGLE girl I know in the 30-38 age group is going ape-s over this movie and preparing for opening night. Jungle Book was a great remake, but didn't benefit from parental nostalgia like Beauty and the Beast.
But now with the gay scene added, I wonder if the target demographic that has kids will think twice about taking their kids to see this movie. The kids may be a little young to be getting exposed to gay story lines, and I'm curious why they chose a Disney Princess movie for it. Seems like it'd be more appropriate in a Pirates movie or one that draws a slightly older crowd. Gays and their supporters wouldn't have skipped this movie without a gay scene, but some parents will skip this movie because of it. Seems like a failure on Disney's part of knowing their target audience. But maybe I'm wrong. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I have never really had a thought watching the original that the character in question is gay. What I saw was more like the pathetic weakling sucking up to the star jock type - every school likely has some kid like this - not some flamer wanting to get in Gaston's pants.

Movies have always "pandered" to men, women, olds, teens, blacks, whites, hispanics, asians, etc. Who cares if they "pander" to gays as well? Anyone making an issue out of this in today's day and age needs to get over it.
