The trailer looked good, but I'm a pretty big Jack Ryan fan. My worry is that they change the characters so much that the only thing they have in common is the name.

That's good. Because Jim is a character. John Krasinski is an actor. He pretends to be different character.

Well, yeah, duh. But that's the only character I've seen him play so that's what I have to work with.

Go watch 13 Hours. He did just fine in that, and its a perfect setup for his transition into Jack Ryan.

I hear you, but I believe Bay was involved somehow with the Starz show Black Sails, and I really liked that one. So, all hope is not lost yet.

I know others here liked it, but I turned black sails off after about four episodes, to me it was like everything else he does...visually solid, nice action, and with the depth of a nearly dried up puddle. Stopped watching the last ship after a year for the same reason.
And while popcorn stuff definitely has its place, the Clancy novels generally have relatively intricate well paced plots with good tension. Nothing he has done to this point has shown he is up for that, but maybe he will prove me wrong. Hope he does, because the idea has a lot of potential.

Yeah, Season 1 was slow and I can see how you could lose interest, but the entire show built upon itself nicely as it progressed (as it naturally would, since the show itself was a prologue to the events in Treasure Island) and I'm of the opinion that each season was better than the previous one. The characters, the sub-plots, the overarching plot...all were very well fleshed out.

Really playing the analyst angle well rather than a super spy, looking forward to it.

Edit, also saw August 31st is the release date.

Yes.

It at least had some really good moments, even if a lot of other stuff brought it down. Stopped watching before last season though.

Trailer looks good. Don't know how I feel about JR being really proficient in firearms. Hopefully this is not the case or they explain it well. I don't need to watch 24 again.
