The trailer looked good, but I'm a pretty big Jack Ryan fan. My worry is that they change the characters so much that the only thing they have in common is the name.
This would be great!BR0 said:
I'm interested in seeing this.
I've always wished somebody would make an authentic Tom Clancy TV show, with each book being one full season. It would be a massive project and would require long term commitments from the actors who play Jack Ryan, John Clark, and a few others, but it would be awesome.
I'll keep dreaming.

As for the current topic, I just don't see Jim from The Office as Jack Ryan.
Well, yeah, duh. But that's the only character I've seen him play so that's what I have to work with.Unthought Known said:MooreTrucker said:This would be great!BR0 said:

That's good. Because Jim is a character. John Krasinski is an actor. He pretends to be different character.
I will endeavor to do so.FL_Ag1998 said:
Go watch 13 Hours. He did just fine in that, and its a perfect setup for his transition into Jack Ryan.

I know others here liked it, but I turned black sails off after about four episodes, to me it was like everything else he does...visually solid, nice action, and with the depth of a nearly dried up puddle. Stopped watching the last ship after a year for the same reason.FL_Ag1998 said:oragator said:
Another reimagined series, and with Michael Bay? What could ever go wrong?
I hear you, but I believe Bay was involved somehow with the Starz show Black Sails, and I really liked that one. So, all hope is not lost yet.

And while popcorn stuff definitely has its place, the Clancy novels generally have relatively intricate well paced plots with good tension. Nothing he has done to this point has shown he is up for that, but maybe he will prove me wrong. Hope he does, because the idea has a lot of potential.
