Agree with that mostly. But that guy just got on my nerves more than any of the others.

By the way, Auburn named Sean White the starter.

I also thought Franklin was bit too high on himself, but he seemed like a good teammate and wasn't on the verge of failing out of freaking JUCO classes.

I feel like anyone who looked at that kid during his time on the series and saw malice in his opinion of himself or his actions needs not ever learn about 99% of all college football and basketball players.

Im not saying he was a perfect kid, but being an all everything hs star, being recruited by the top colleges in the country, etc will do wonders in a man's ego. And all things considered, I think he came off as pretty darn good.

But he didn't think he was too good to be there. He CHOSE to go there. He thought that he was only going to be there for the one season of football and as such a highly touted recruit why wouldn't he be? He went there, took care of business, and wasn't a cancer. Thats really all you can ask about him.

Yes, he has an ego, but most athletes who compete at high levels do or they don't succeed.

He didn't just think he was the best qb... He thought he was too good to be demeaning himself at a place like that.

That's how he always came across to me.
If you played at Florida St and were a National Champion would you not feel the exact same way?

I'll say it.....Ms Wagner could get it.

I enjoyed the series. I wonder if the head coach could get a bigger gig if he kept his temper under control. He really didn't seem much different than the players. A guy who has a lot of potential, but just can't get out of his own way.

I also found it funny everyone he'd rip into his team, cussing and screaming, and then jump into the Lord's Prayer.
That annoyed the hell out of me.
Things have changed in 25+ years, but every football coach I ever played for did this.

OT: It's incredible the words I hear come out of opposing coaches' mouths, and where it's sad is when it's at the kids (I get this is about college students, but I'm extrapolating). We've had junior high games where I can hear the opposing junior high coach cussing a kid for missing a catch or a tackle. Heck, we had one varsity basketball team we played against where, no joke, their best player was partially crippled (they had no business being in a UIL basketball district). They were inept and had no clue how basketball should be played. At halftime their coach spent the entire time cursing the kids calling them worthless pieces of excrement and the like. Needless to say, the coach was reported to his school, UIL, and the superintendent. The kids were giving what they had, it just wasn't much. I won't say the coaching staff where I'm at never cusses, but we have a very strict policy when it comes to around the kids, and we police ourselves on it pretty strictly.

I have always found the Lord's prayer "Let's go beat their *bleeping* *bleeps*" to be an odd mixture, and it's sad that the prayer to be just another tradition before the game and not taken seriously. As a person that proclaims Christianity myself and tries my best to live it out, if it's just done for tradition's sake, I'd almost rather not do it.

Back on topic: It's cool to see some of these guys get to extend their football careers at a JUCO, and it's really sad they have to be babysat like they were, but with many kids today, they have to have their hand held the whole way. One thing they didn't mention that I wondered about is how many of these kids are with DARS or something similar that requires some extra hand holding vs. just immature guys needing to be reminded constantly. If you're at a JUCO there's usually two reasons why: You couldn't hack playing at a D-1, or you weren't responsible enough in HS to pass, so they need the hand holding.

Resurrecting this thread bc I watched S1 of Last Chance U this weekend, because, well, I really need football to start soon.

I came away thinking that the head coach is a total joke/hypocrite. In one sentence he is screaming and cursing and then the next he is leading the most lackluster Lord's prayer I have ever heard. He starts calling everyone thugs, and berating them right after he got suspended for not being able to control his temper. Finally, they show him on the recruiting trail trying to convince another recruit to come join his family. I don't know if that is to be expected for a college coach, but it is a sick mind game that he is playing.

Lastly, Marcel Andry, ole red beard, that tried to get some sort of extra benefits from the coach but wouldn't ask "because the cameras are on" is still on the Nicholls St team, but Ronald Ollie does not appear on the roster. Not sure if this has been discussed in the S2 thread, but I haven't read it bc I haven't watched it yet.

Just wait until season 2...

And they address a lot of the guys from S1 in S2.

Both seasons of the show are sad to me. From the coaches to the kids to the teachers.

Just saw that John Franklin III is transferring again. Wants to play closer to his home in Fla. He's a graduate transfer so he'll play immediately. Potential landing spot with Lane Kiffin.

He's moved from QB to WR, and was buried on the depth chart at Auburn

I watched episodes 1 through 5. I have the flu. I thought maybe the flu was making me sad but seeing kids in jc that have to be treated like elementary children is likely doing it. That coach is a POS.
