I thought this season was weaker than season 1, and I was tired of being disappointed by how DD was struggling in fights against The Punisher and the ninjas, much less Nobu. But they really turned it around in the last few episodes with The Punisher's and Elektra's new uniforms, Stick giving DD the advice about really using his hearing to fight, and DD getting his baton. So, I ended up actually liking this season more overall.

I wish there were about 10 seasons of this show to binge, I cannot get enough of it, and can't wait for more Luke Cage/ JJ as well. I pray Frank comes back quickly into the fold as well, or they keep digging into the story behind his family's death more and how it deals with his time in the war.

The only thing I hate about the way this season ended is we probably won't get to see any of how Karen reacts to the news. Season 3 will probably pick up 7 months after the last episode (if not longer), and everything will go on as if she's known the whole time.

Arrow/flash kinda spoil ya with 30 episode seasons.

I am rewatching JJ to fill the void a bit

Liked the season. Probably just a tick or two below season 1 for me, but that's a really high standard.

I didn't love the Matt Murdoch side of things this season. For some reason, early in the season one of my observations was that we weren't getting enough Matt Murdoch, Attorney at law. When they started to develop Matt's internal struggle regarding that as a storyline I was excited, but I just don't think they did a good job developing it or resolving it. Claire is a great character, but I think some of her stuff could have been cut in favor of developing this.

I loved most everything they did on the daredevil side of things. The culmination of the DD/ Punisher/ Elektra/ Stick team up was great.

Really good season overall.

Not sure why I have such a different opinion than most of yall, but I am kinda disappointed with season 2. I imagine it probably has to do with not being into comic books. Although i loved season 1....

Overall, it felt like the writers tried to cram 3 seasons worth of plot into 1. At the end of the season i had no clue what was going on with anything because there were so many moving parts.

Plus, some of the violence was over the top for me, particularly when the ninjas started cutting that dudes leg off in the finale. Seriously, somebody's first move would be to hack the guy's entire foot off instead of cutting the ankle bracelet off?? It reaked of the show trying to force more gore into an already gory season, which really turned me off.

All of that being said, the punisher was incredible, and the first 4 episodes were great.

I'm not super well versed on DD (yet), but I'm curious to see how this compares to the comics. Seems a bit of a stretch for him and Foggy to completely disband as a law firm. I fully expect them to reconcile in season 3 though which is kind of silly when you think about it.

and of course Elektra will come back at some point, probably evil until Matt gets her straight.

BTW...the winner of this season was the Punisher...dude was absolutely nail and I want to watch a show just on him.

People keep saying that... but I don't think the Punisher could really support his own series. I think he is freaking awesome as a supporting character though.

I thought Season 2 was very good.

I'll admit that when I heard Bernthal was going to be The Punisher, I wasn't too happy. But damn...he absolutely nailed it. I'm done questioning any casting decisions by Marvel at any level.

I thought the Fisk tie-in was great. Just a reminder that he's still very much in the mix and is going to be a force once he gets out.

My only real gripe about the Season was the way the Blacksmith was handled...it was way too rushed. There were enough twists this season and enough big bad guys getting dealt with. I'd have liked them to keep that a secret and keep building him up until next season or a Punisher show (if they go that direction). Is The Blacksmith in the comics?

You could figure out that the Blacksmith/Colonel had a significant role, because the actor was too big for just a one off scene in court

There is a character called Blacksmith in the comics but he bears no resemblance to the one in DD.

No doubt, but they could have kept him as a character for a while without revealing him as the Blacksmith, right? Use him and Karen to learn even more about Frank. Have him be the one guy that Frank trusts, making the ultimate reveal all the more powerful and significant.

As soon as Karen went to his home, I knew it was over for that storyline. Frank was dismantelling his organization, and destroyed the shipment. There wasn't much more for him to go past there, and Frank had apparently already figured it out as well but Karen had gotten there first.

The music in the car was a message to her that Frank was there IMO.

Well, uh, yeah. That was pretty obvious

Now that I've been the jerk, I have a probably even more stupid question so we can be even. So the Blacksmith set up this deal and Frank's family just happened to be there when it went south? Like, the incident was a total coincidence? Frank and his family weren't targeted, they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time?

That doesn't make much sense to me and it seems like there had to be a tie-in, so I'm assuming there was and I completely missed it. I watched the last 6 or so episodes while I was sick so it's more than likely I missed a huge plot point. Figured I'd ask.
redline248
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I think it was implied that Frank's family wasn't coincidence. There was evidence that his family was killed execution style, the line from the colonel about Frank could have been part of his crew, and then the last scene with him telling Frank whatever it was that Karen didn't know about.

Yeah, I think I've come to this same conclusion, but at this point I'm not going to doubt the Marvel tv/movie people. If they decide to make a series out of him, no doubt it'll kick ass.

Ok, just finished ep 13. Overall really enjoyed it, thought Punisher and Elektra were very well adapted and the action pieces were great as always.

A few bits of agreement and other points:

- Frank showing up in the final fight was absolutely pitch perfect, but that did seem like one of those "why don't they just kill him" fights early on. DD can only deflect so many longbows and other weapons at one time.

- the Blacksmith reveal was a bit sudden and rushed and not well explained. He'd offered to have Frank join him at some point so wouldn't his identity have been somewhat obvious earlier on? And why exactly was the Colonel dealing heroin?

- never revisited the van pulling up outside Frank's house when Karen was snooping

- why exactly is there a 40 story hole in the ground?

- shouldn't Elektra be better than Matt? She seemed more vulnerable.

- Stick is just awesome, the moment with Nobu was great

- Matt not being able to hear the Hand ninjas at times was odd. I get that he couldn't hear heartbeats but what about clothes, micro noises from their footsteps, etc. And he didn't think to listen for their breath till Stick told him?

- Foggy grew as a character and it was cool to see, love him closing out the bar tab at the end

One thing I noticed during this show that I rarely ever would: there can be some real weird editing. I'm watching again with someone and I noticed something during the Episode 3 rooftop sequence:

As the Punisher prepares to shoot up the Dogs of Hell, we get a quick segment of Karen looking through some of the Castle files. Then Matt knocks him out, loads him into the elevator, and bikers approach. Another brief Karen scene, about 10 seconds. Then Matt goes on his 10-minute beatdown.

Why did it cut away? And why then, of all places? It's bizarre. My girlfriend even shouted "I don't care!" since this interrupted the tension so jarringly. IIRC it happens again later when Elektra fights the guy in the airport hangar.

Good season, but some bizarre editing choices.

Thread of nitpicks..guess that's a good sign that you made a great season.
That was probably the best "I'm so-and so" doen in a comic book movie/show so far. Actually had emotion attached to it.

We don't know, yet, but I'm guessing it will have to do with accessing the realm where the Hand gets its demonic powers.

They've kept them pretty separate other than pretty tangential references (same locations, mentions here and there, etc.). I'd say if we get a tie-in it will be something like that, at least for now. After Defenders, I think all bets are off.

From what i could tell Daredevil seems to be the very first occurrences of magic in the mcu: nobu resurrecting.
