The first three books in the series are fantastic but there was a long wait in between the rest of the series which coincided with King getting hit by a van and nearly dying. The remaining books are a mess and felt rushed because of that.

The whole idea of the dark tower at the center of King's literary universe is awesome and there are Easter eggs throughout several of his later works.

The posted article is very disappointing and one of the main reasons that fans of the series think it is better adapted for a series on Netflix or HBO

except this is not the fat ass neckbeard writing this.

This is one of the actual writers who has had a long history of talking about Dark Tower and knows his *****

He has a great series when he interviewed Ron Howard and Javier Bardiem when they were attached to this property a few years ago. His is an informed and invested opinion.

Awesome. I didn't even notice McConaughey upside down. What's more, they are walking to the Dark Tower in the negative space.

It is a brilliant poster to be sure.

This is starting to sound a lot like Highlander: The Quickening.

I want to see a post apocalyptic world, not a futuristic one where everything still is shiny and fully functional.

Is this an indication of production troubles or just timing up he release to max out revenue?

Spider-Man will dominate in July so I guess this makes sense.

July 2017 has always been absolutely bonkers. Spider-Man, Apes, Dunkirk, Valerian, and Atomic Blonde. With no trailer yet, Dark Tower was the odd man out, and when Baby Driver moved from August 11 to June 28 just a week or so ago, someone in July was going to flinch, and Dark Tower made the most sense. Moving it only a week is definitely just a strategic thing and not due to production troubles (not to say there aren't production troubles in general, though, they're just not the kind affecting the release date).

Holy crap, I didn't realize those were all July releases! That's a huge month

Everything about this is pointing towards a train wreck. And that sucks.

Really wish Ron Howard had been able to go ahead with his massive plan of a movie followed by a season of a tv show, then another movie, television season, etc.... It would have been groundbreaking.

Yeah, seriously. Valerian and Atomic Blonde will obviously get lost in the shuffle a bit, but Spidey, Apes, or Dunkirk is definitely going to get bruised up a bit as well. I can't think of a time when three movies THAT big came out three weekends in a row like that.

Might be Dunkirk that takes a hit as it stands right now. I'm in, but have seen almost nothing about it.

Just watched two teasers. They aren't the trailer, but they don't appear good. The feel of the world is completely off. The dialogue sounds weird and forced.

He is not a writer who creates actual content. He's a fan of the series like you and me, and writes for a site that reviews movies and talks about leaks and trailers.

HMmm. I trust Idris Elba, but something seems a tad off. Its probably been 10 years since I've read the books. Are they planning on doing all 7 (depending on profits) or have they compacted the story into a few films?

By a bit too Doctor Strange-esque don't you mean a bit to Inception-esque

Like you I know nothing of these books other than the constant will it/won't it happen of the project over the years.

Trailer looks decent but doesn't make me think I'd rush out to see it.

It/Pennywise shout-out in the trailer as well.

But ultimately looks like a Young Adult movie/series... Particularly bland.

if this is the style, then there's no way they do any of the other books

but if this isn't the style, then there's no way you get a movie at all

Which Tower is this?

The one with Sauron, or the one with Saruman?
