It's kind of crazy how fast WB went from "Miller won't be doing press or attending the premiere" to Miller not only attending the premiere, but giving interviews, introducing the movie itself, and being applauded in the process…

(That said, it *is* a surprisingly good/genuine intro.)

Reviews ranging from "greatest superhero movie ever" to this, and I have no idea where I'm going to land...

I mean that's some rando who clearly had no interest in the movie to begin with. Probably the same type of review you'd get from me if I forced myself to go watch the new Transformers. Not sure how much stock I'd put in that.

I've seen multiple reactions like this, though. I just find it funny, and have never seen reactions to anything this all over the map.

Tracking has been off all year, so I'm betting it ends up higher than this...

Heads up, but there's a bootleg screenshot currently making the rounds on Twitter, reportedly from The Flash, being shared/retweeted by certain accounts, without spoiler warning, that, if real, is one of the craziest, most obscure superhero cameos of all time. I accidentally scrolled past it in my "For You" tab (aka not always people I follow), and I'm kind of pissed I saw it, but also so incredibly curious now how it even fits into the movie. Again, if it's even real. Either way, I somehow have to make it until Saturday without learning anything more…

Please let one of the cameos be Matter-Eater Lad.

I always wonder if having your main actor be such a total ****head is clouding some of the opinions of the actual movie?

Yeah, I saw that and was also pissed off. The scene is… wild. The CGI I've seen with those scenes is terrible. I hope it's just something with the quality of the bootlegs.

I'm beyond intrigued to see this now simply because of the wildly diverse opinions. We might actually go to the theater for this one.

On the potentially terrible effects, I feel like I can't judge that well anymore because the overall level of effects have risen so high. Like this these would have to be first generation CGI from the early 90s for me to really notice it.

Oh I already have tickets to see it tomorrow at the first showing possible. I have high hopes for this.

Hopefully some suspect CGI doesn't ruin it.

Seeing this Friday right after work. I don't give a crap about any critic opinions - Michael Keaton is back, that's enough for me.

This is why I'm insanely intrigued to watch either the greatest superhero film ever or an absolute train wreck.

And I likely won't be able to catch it in theaters so I'm gonna have to avoid Twitter for like 6-8 weeks...ugh.

Today has been even more nuts in that regard. Nearly every other reaction I've seen has either been Worst Movie Ever! or Loved It!

Personally, I'm trying to go in with as much of an open mind as possible. On one hand, I think the visuals mostly look like ass, but on the other hand, I'm stoked to see Keaton in the role again, and open to getting swept up in the emotion of it all.

Sorry you won't be able to see it for a while, but at least all the dust will have settled by the time you do.

Hopefully the story is good, even if the CGI is not

I think that's gonna make it a really fun watch either way.

We've got a newborn at home and a 2 year old which complicates the viewing, I MIGHT be able to get out when the MIL is here in a few weeks and will have to flip a coin between this and Indy (depending when she comes) if that happens.
TCTTS

Personally, I'd go with Indy.

That said, if at all possible, if I could only save up for one theater pass all summer, I'd use it on Mission: Impossible.

For only the movie itself I'd agree, but I also feel like there's less to get spoiled for Indy.

And my wife is a huge MI fan so I'm gonna try to play the "let's have your mom come and go on a date" card for that one Little guy will be a few months old then too so bit easier sell.

Apropos of nothing other than it's a DC Universe thread, I recently discovered that Max has a TON of animated DC shows with the Justice League, Batman, Legion of Superheroes, and all that.

Now I understand why everyone makes over them all the time. I used to think animations were just Saturday cartoon shows grown up, but the first Spiderverse movie was really good. And with a realization that most of the Marvel movies have so much CGI they might as well be cartoons, I decided to give them a try, and I'm really enjoying them.

which ones have you watched?

every time i'm browsing around Max, i tell myself i'm going to give one of those animated series/movies a chance, but not sure where to start or if it even matters.

I started with the Legion of Superheroes because I loved them as a kid and don't think they get enough love in movies or TV (except for a season of Supergirl, but even that was limited). I'm also watching the JL series, midway through season 1 of 2.

I've also seen The Flashpoint Paradox, The Long Halloween, and The Killing Joke.

Look up the DCAMU and watch those in order. It's a complete story, akin to the MCU

Long Halloween is part of the Tomorrowverse, which is the new universe. It has its own list and just recently started with either Man of Tomorrow or JSA WWII
