Marvel has lots of alien stuff, for sure. But I feel like most of its major heroes don't rely on it. Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, Spidey the X-Men, etc.

FF are definitely more cosmic, though originally weren't necessarily ALIEN. Thor is an alien but that's a bit of a retcon from his mythological origin.

It's just a different foundation.

Weirdly, the trailer didn't do much for me other than show me the stuff the suit can do. I don't really feel that drawn in to the movie itself.

That said, i plan to see it, but i guess I was expecting more from the first of Gunn's new DC?

Yeah I'll probably catch this on HBO Max as well. But I like Xolo, think he's great on Cobra Kai as Miguel, so hoping this movie does find success. Be cool if they use this as a jumping off point for GoG style Teen Titans.

Gunn only took over like 6 months ago. This movie is not one of his. They're just cranking it out like they did with Shazaam 2 because they already made them and they like money, even if it's not much.

Movie looks like Ms Marvel but with Latinos instead of Muslims and some Green Lantern thrown in. And ripping off Iron Man's first test flight sequence.

Exactly.

Just so everyone's aware, the first theatrical installment under the new Gunn DCU isn't until summer 2025, with Superman: Legacy. This year they're burning off all the old, remaining DCEU stuff, with Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. And then 2024 is kind of a gap year, with no DCEU stuff, only Joker: Folie Deux theatrically and The Penguin series on HBO Max. Then, in 2025, the new era starts.

That said, there are rumors/indications that The Flash kind of sort of sets up the new DCU, but the messaging has been muddy so far and no one knows for sure.

It looks kinda fun and I do like him from Cobra Kai. Probably not one I'll catch in theaters but totally sip on HBO Max.

Looks fine. His family is in that trailer too much already hahah. Hopefully one of them isn't a tech genius or other cliches like that.

I still can't believe this doesn't come out until October 2024. An early April wrap for movie like this (one that isn't heavy on special effects) could easily make a fall 2023 premiere. Granted, Warner Bros already has Dune: Part Two, Wonka, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in November/December, but one of the latter two could absolutely move to the spring (seeing as WB almost assuredly wants Joker: Folie a Deux releasing in the fall as awards play)...

I'm really hoping they move that up, it doesn't need to be more than a year from now.

Joker premiered at film festivals first, so maybe...MAYBE...they are shooting for a Cannes world premier in 2024 to build buzz on the film and then doing the festival circuit (like Joker did) in a lead up to a big awards campaign. So waiting for a fall release makes total sense from that perspective. Especially because it probably won't be done/ready by August this year.

BUT...if they get the thing in the can and it isn't good, then they couldl move it up to like a March/April/May 2024 date. But if they do that, its not great news for the film being good IMO. But...I also didn't care for Joker so I'm not optimistic that ill like this much either.
