The plot itself was really interesting. The whole idea of "who watches the watchmen?" is kind of an idea that gets skirted around in a lot of superhero material regularly (up until that time anyway - it's more popular to do so now a days).

The character of Rorschach was very well done too. Sick, twisted yet very principled and relatable.

Right - Rorschach was great in concept through the comic book, and in the movie thanks to Jackie Earl Halye (whose portrayal of Rorschach alone outdoes any of the poor casting and specifically the acting of Malin Ackerman).

To me though, as a sci-fi nerd, the character of Dr. Manhattan, and the reaction of the world to him, was the single most compelling portrayal of an all-powerful character in just about any medium.

Not sure why fanboys hate it, but the 20 year delay idea someone else mentioned might be a good one. I read the book after watching the film and was surprised how insanely close the movie follows the book (and surprised that people had thought the film was unfilmable).

It stands today as my favorite comic book movie.

I read an article about this a few weeks ago on joblo. It was about the stand alone Batman movie and predicted that Affleck might direct. The article also said it might be called "The Batman"

Edit: My bad. I read it from Latino Review last summer so I doubt the title will be that.

It's the same project. This has been rumored for a while now. Looks like it'll officially be announced Saturday at Comic-Con.

I'm actually surprised and saddened that a Bluntman and Chronic movie hasn't happened yet.

REMINDER: The Warner Bros. Comic-Con panel is at 10:30 AM Pacific today, in just over an hour. They're likely going to debut the first Suicide Squad footage, which I doubt us non-attendees will get to see. That said, they'll almost assuredly officially announce the Affleck/Batman solo film, along with another project/character or two. Also, as mentioned in the BvS thread, we should be getting a (public) trailer for that as early as today.

Apparently a sizzle reel shown for both films, really positive reaction on Twitter. Some fun comments on David Ayer.

It's better than I expected, by far. The tone seems interesting, it's got potential.

Yeah, that SS trailer may actually be even better than the BvS trailer. Way more serious/haunting than I thought. That said, I can't tell if it legit looks good, or it's the music that's selling it, because that track over the footage is so perfect.

I gotta be honest, I thought Suicide Squad looked better than BvsS. I know its just trailers, but Harley and Joker look much better on screen then in pictures. And Harley is freaking hot.

Well looks like they got rid of the color over lays. I am not sold on lex Luther though. Ben as a older batman looks about right.
