I like it. Khal Drogo of the sea!
quote:i actually agree completely. i'd love to see at least a little orange and green on the suit. and i'd have loved for batman to go back to the blue and gray scheme, or at least a variation of it.
So I'm going to be the unpopular opinion here, but this is pretty much exactly what I expected. I think just a tint of color would have been nice, but it seems like every character has to have real muted colors, even Superman's suit is somehow lacking color.
I mean at this point, what is the Flash going to wear? Black and white? Is the Green Lantern going to be gray?
I had a huge amount of hype for Man of Steel (the third trailer was one of the best trailers I've seen) but the movie let me down so much, I'm not going to believe in anything Zack Snyder is doing with these characters until the movie comes out. If it's good, I'll be glad, but I probably still won't like the costumes.
quote:Eh, that's stupid. Good comic book interpretations show how the characters might interact in a "real" world. If they want to have him in colorful garb (as an ode to the old comics), they could go green, orange, and gold in some ceremonial outfit worn in the city of Atlantis. His battle gear should be gray and menacing. He is a warroir of the sea. Looks like DC is really running with the grittier, darker themes, I like it a lot. So far their choices for costumes have been top notch (Wonder Woman with a Greek style armored skirt is another).

I've never had any doubt BvS would look cool. Man of steel looked cool, but that didn't make it a good movie.

TCTTS, any new thoughts on when we might get a trailer?

what if they did Hal Jordan or Kyle Rayner but made him black?

I hope they do John Stewart. Guy was such a badass in the animated Justice League. Honestly, I think most of the teenagers/young 20's crowd know him better than Hal because of the animated series.

Details about THE *********#BATMAN in #SUICIDESQUAD! #SPOILER #WARNING According to sources, in the film Batman is some sort of big boogeyman that the government REALLY hates. Get this, prior to the events in #BatmanvSuperman, THE JOKER is the only one to really ever meet him or know him and that's why he's so important to Amanda Waller. They have footage of Batman in action which they watch. There is a bit of dialogue where they say Batman is the key to tracking down all "the supers." Very cool stuff. #DC #DCCU #DCCOMICS #THEJOKER #AMANDAWALLER #THEDARKKNIGHTRETURNS

This description fits with the previous rumors about Suicide Squad's Batman and Joker connections as well as general rumors about the context in which Ben Affleck's Batman exists within this new DC shared universe. It also fits with behind-the-scenes rumors that Ben Affleck would not have to film much new footage to have Batman be a part of the Suicide Squad Movie.
The setup for Affleck's Batman (as rumored) is that in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice we meet an older, seasoned, semi-retired Batman, who has operated from the shadows for years. After a long career, Bruce Wayne allegedly hangs up he cowl (possibly after losing a side-kick to The Joker), and now maintains order in Gotham City through the use of drones and surveillance.
Comic book fans know that the backstory described above combines elements of several famous Batman comics, such as Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns, or the acclaimed alternate-reality storyline, "Kingdom Come".
The events of Batman V Superman would, ergo, drastically change the playing field, as Batman will likely have to reveal himself as a real heroic icon, which (if this rumored context is true) would have major repercussions throughout the DC Movie Universe.
If rumors about Jared Leto's Joker are also true and this depiction of the villain is also drawing from Miller's Dark Knight Returns storyline - then seeing Batman revealed to the world could inspire Joker to "new activity." If what El Mayimbe states turns out true as well, then Batman saving the world in Batman V Superman would also put him into Amanda Waller's crosshairs.
This would all be solid groundwork for the eventual Batman movie reboot, and a re-introduction to the character that is different enough to be distinguished from Chris Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. It's also a scenario (Batman being an older mentor figure to a younger Superman) that was suggested long before the DCMU got itself off the ground.
In the end, these rumors seem to converge on the idea that the DCMU is going to be fully interconnected and interwoven at every turn rather than the more solo story that Marvel used when building their shared universe in Phase I. Not only will characters come in bigger groups, sooner than later, but events of one film will (allegedly) have much more direct impact on the subsequent films that follow, rather than waiting for a team-up event to explore the weight of individual storylines.
Marvel's formula has worked out to great benefit, so it's going to be interesting to watch if DC taking a different approach will result in just as much (if not more) success for the studio.
