He has a beautiful speaking voice. I hope they don't f*** it up by making him speak through a sound-garbling mask.

But the casting here is probably:

Will Smith-Dead Shot
Margot Robbie-Vixen
Tom Hardy-Captain Boomerang
Ryan Goseling-Could play a number of them.

Why does this sound like the Longhorn's coaching search from last year?

Nick Saban! Jim Harbaugh! Chip Kelly! Gus Malzhan! Mike Tomlin!

...then they end up with Charlie Strong.

I think that's a good example, although I think Will Smith is getable if they want to pay him enough.

I will be okay with Jaden Smith as Robin if his lines are his tweets verbatim.

Almost anything at this point would be better than the *******ization of the character we've seen in films thus far.

Looks like Jena Malone is in BvS

Looks to be playing some older version of Carrie Kelly, I guess? I think that's too much, if true.

I can't imagine Will Smith being in a movie where he's not the A1 actor. Just not his thing.

My wishes for DC are John Stewart Green Lantern and Booster Gold.

Oh, and the Martian Manhunter.

I didn't care for The Dark Knight Returns at all and the female Robin was incredible stupid. This smacks of desperation on the part of DC

My gut reaction is that I don't like having Carrie Kelly as Robin. If they are going to go with a female Robin, I would prefer Stephanie Brown, though Tim Drake, honestly would be my first preference. But, as much as I like robin, I don't think that he/she needs to be in a movie that it's supposed to be batman vs superman. I think that Batman would want to keep his birds away from superman. And seriously, at this point, you might as well cast a bat girl and superboy if you're going to cast robin.

I may take my "anything would be better than the last Robin" comment above back Maybe Harley Quinn?

As per Robin, I'm still not entirely sure which universe/timeline we're looking at with BvS/JusticeLeague. It seems to sort of be borrowing from a Dark Knight Returns universe with a younger Batman so Carrie Kelly might be the choice, Tim Drake could be squeezed into that timeline as well.

Honestly, I'd love to see them develop a bat family universe, though I don't know if the market would support it. Nightwing, Red Robin, and Red Hood could all be adapted into or be a part of some really interesting stories, and a well done version of Batgirl would be well received as well. Might be better done as a tv show though.

I would hate this. I love Batman but I cant stand all the other ancillary characters. They just never made sense to me in regards to Batman's make up. He wouldn't have a bunch of teenagers helping him. Who cares about Nightwing and Red Robin or whatever... And Carrie Kelly is so stupid. One of the main reasons I didn't like The Dark Knight Returns.

I think you're confusing a few of the iterations of Robin with more current versions of these characters, none outside of the current Robin are teenagers and they've all got some pretty interesting stories in their own right.

If nothing else, check out the animated Batman: Under the Red Hood when you have a chance, definitely worth a watch.

I just don't like the concept of Robin. He's dumb to me... Batman is a loner and a perfectionist. I don't even like when he hangs out with the Justice League. And I just don't see what's interesting about Nightwing/Dick Grayson, and I definitely don't see what's interesting about whatever Tim Drake is.

I really hate Batgirl/Huntress/Canary or whatever all those girls are. That was the one thing that I really didn't like about Hush, which otherwise I thought was great.

The Jason Todd stuff is alright, and I did like the animated Under The Red Hood. Probably my favorite of all the cartoons that have come out... But the little girl Robin was really stupid in TDK Returns.

I feel like Batman needs a family. Otherwise it's just too damn dark, too grim, no light at the end of the tunnel, all the time. It's fine to tell an appropriate amount of loner Batman stories. But the nice thing about the Robins, the Batgirls, the Birds of Prey characters, even Alfred and occaisionally Catwoman is they are like his support group. When Batman needs a reason to remember what he's fighting for, that's when these characters come in handy.

Sometimes it can get a bit ridiculous I admit. And because Batman has been around 75 years, the number of supporting characters has probably ballooned way out of proportion. But I have certain favorites and it's pretty rare that they all get thrust in our faces all the time.

In the case of Carrie Kelly, if she ruined DKR for you, all I can say is wow, that's too bad, because in reality she's a pretty small part of one if the greatest graphic novels ever.

I wouldn't say she ruined it for me. It was ok, not nearly as good as Watchmen in my opinion. I read it once and I was underwhelmed since everyone said it was on Watchmen's level. Maybe if I read it again I'll feel differently.

I agree with this. Robin gives Batman balance and perspective and keeps Bruce Wayne from being consumed by his mission.

Luthor has never been a member of the Suicide Squad. He organized the Squad once during his run as President of the United States, and maybe that's what is going to be happening in the movie, but if he's actually a member of the squad, and with no Harley Quinn, that'll be disappointing.

The 20s sure is an odd time period to place a superhero movie. This kind of feels like how Marvel put out a WWII era Captain America movie right before Avengers.

Is there any source material that sets Wonder Woman in the 1920's?

Captain America is set during WW2 because that's canon, I can't think of anything that has Wonder Woman set in the 20's, but I'm much more into Marvel Comics than DC.

Also, if the rumored villains are true for JL Parts 1 and 2, I don't get why the 1920's are a necessary part of the story outside of being a period flick for the sake of just doing a period flick.

A new Joker has potentially been cast, this news hit over 15 hours ago, and TexAgs still hasn't even acknowledged it? You guys are failing me...

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/jared-leto-circling-joker-role-747552

In all seriousness, if they're going to "recast" the Joker - which was obviously inevitable - this is probably the best way to do it; by making him part of an ensemble first, rather than the sole villain in a solo Batman movie out of the gate. Sounds like they're really swinging for the fences with Suicide Squad (The Joker, Lex Luthor, Will Smith in a potential role, etc), and Leto seems as good a choice as any. I'm betting it's a 180 from Ledger's version as well.

Everybody was too interested in the time travel discussion in the MCU thread.

But out of all the future DC movies, Suicide Squad is the one I'm most excited for. I could see Leto in the role, in a Nicholson Joker version..

Think it just shows how little we all care about the DC projects, which is saying a lot because obviously the board is following Marvel's stuff very closely.

Leto seems like a good shot at the Joker. Guessing they'll go the whole Clown Prince of Crime route over the Nolan-esque madman. He'll be a Joker that turns all the fish in the reservoir into "Joker fish" and demands royalties and sets up his lair at an abandoned amusement park, which is fine; that can be an amazing Joker and is sort of what Burton went with in his take. The only other direction to go is to do the sadistic Joker who has his own face cut off or gets off on getting beat up by Batman, but I don't think that jibes with what DC/WB is doing in their world. But to define him in some sort of ensemble rather than as a direct Batman foe seems questionable, however they build him up.

DC is really all over the map. When we saw Man of Steel, it was clearly a "world's first superhero" type situation. Now, all of a sudden, they're pulling back the curtain to see that the world is actually full of superheroes AND supervillains. Batman, though maybe still considered an urban legend, has been around long enough to go through at least a couple of Robins and is now an old hand. The government has enough supervillains in captivity to run a team of them. Granted, none of these things are "alien invasion" level events, but it does seem like the world would be a little more able to accept weirdness in their lives.

Also, I thought we were getting a semi-retired Batman... you're saying that Batman was sitting in his cave watching the world with drones while Joker is alive? Maybe Joker has been locked up ten years or something.

I don't know, but it's like I said. All over the map.

One interesting thing that might hamstring the development of Batman in the movies is what they're doing on Gotham. I'm a bit behind, but in the last couple of episodes I've watched, it has become very clear to me that they are leaning heavily on the Arkham video games for reference. Calling the real estate development in Gotham "Arkham City" wasn't an accident. Obviously it's not beat for beat, but that world looks EXACTLY like the video game. Arkham Asylum's grounds look exactly the same. They are taking a sort of "grounded" approach, and making Venom a key plot point. I think the larger goal here, in the big picture, is for them to do a Batman series that will closely resemble the Batman from these games.

This is all stuff, really some of the best Batman stuff written in the last decade or more, that DC could be using as basis for its movie franchises, but now really won't be able to.
Sex Panther

Leto as the Joker actually seems like a really good choice. And agree with Alias it'll probably be a different take then Ledger's.

But from what I understand, hasn't Joker never been part of the Suicide Squad? And more importantly it doesn't seem like anything he'd ever even consider?

Although I'm not surprised since 90% of the team consists of F-Listers like Captain Boomerang.
