I'm really getting into it...surprised it took so long for this thread to get bumped after Sunday.

Another great episode. The constant barrage of setbacks are getting a little tiresome though.

Curious what happens to Cameron from here.

Fantastic episode. Did not see that curve coming at all. Cannot wait for the finale.

For some reason, my DVR didn't record it. And I had to watch the 2nd showing from 11:15 on. I started watching just when Cameron was spray painting their booth. What happened before that? Why were they in a hotel room rather than on the floor like everybody else?

Also.. I'm sorta alarmed by the latest twist. They are a fictional computer company going against real life winners of this race. If they beat the Apple's, HPs, and Compaq's of the world that would be revisionism. So does that mean they are destined to fail?

Loved the quips about Microsoft when they were finally walking into ComDex, before witnessing the "SlingShot".

It's gotten better and better with each episode.

Too much hyped drama.

Meh. It is however fun to watch the progression of computer technology.

The quip about HP's touch technology never catching on made me LOL last night. Kinda sad that the last episode of the season is this week.

Maybe I missed it, but has it officially been picked up for a second season?

This is my big issue as well. I just don't see how they're going to navigate this. I guess Mad Men exists in a world where they still acknowledge many of the real/great campaigns of the time, but the computer world is a much more recent and well-established thing in the minds of the audience. And I was fine with how they've dealt with all that until last night, when Apple basically became a major plot point. It was a cool moment, but has weird overall repercussions.

Nope, not yet. Hoping we hear something next week after the finale.

My only guess is that they get absorbed by a larger real company. But that is sorta boring.

Can anybody fill me in on what happened in the first 15 minutes?

***SPOILER ALERT***

They drove from Texas (really, Georgia) to Vegas. Cameron ate a sloppy burger and got ketchup on Joe's speech...which you see later when he's reading it.

Cardiff's accts all got frozen, so their reservations got whacked. Then Joe and Gordon go into pimp overdrive figuring out how to scam a room...they snow a couple guys who have made a crappy printer that can't really keep up with the current (1983) PC tech anyways. That's the room they're in, other than the floor at ComDex, for the rest of the episode.

I think that's about it for the first 15.

WTF is up with setting the truck on fire? What a ******. I was getting tired of all the crisis, and now they had to manufacture this one? It's like they are trying to make Joe into another Walter White, but failing at it. The only two redeemable characters on the show are Gordon and that John Bosworth guy, but it looks like Bosworth won't be on the show anymore. I don't give a rat's ass about anybody else.

This show can be frustrating to watch, but in a good way. I'll be really disappointed if they don't renew it for a second season.

I think it shows that Joe is always seeking perfection in his machine while Gordon sees the computer as a tool for doing work. Joe was happy with the machine until he saw the Mac and realised that is the future and they had it with Cameron's software befor they pulled it out last minute.
aTmAg
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The problem is that Cameron's software was lame as hell. Her character is probably even more annoying that Joe's. They seem to be trying to loosely model Joe after Steve Jobs, and Gordon after Wozniak. But I have no idea who Cameron is supposed to represent. It's like they said, "we got too much sausage in this show.. let's throw some hot chicks in there." before adding Donna and Cameron. It's a cliche in how anti-stereotypical they tried to make both women. It's like the cheesy 80s shows that showed somebody riding a motorcycle with a helmet on who gets off and kicks a bunch of people's asses, before pulling off their helmet to reveal a supermodel.

I was ok with Joe's character and even started to like him when him and Gordon were negotiating company ownership, but when he set that truck on fire, I'm ready fir then to kill him of somehow.

What a horrible finale, especially after the run of great episodes there toward the end. aTmAg said it best - everything about this episode was manufactured. The season finale should have ended after the events of last week. Instead, they just created all these lame, forced threads here at the very end, none of which were even remotely compelling, or felt all that organic to what came before.

I was all-in after last week, but I have absolutely no desire to follow any of these new storylines. If the show gets picked up for season two, there's no doubt the gang will get back together eventually, but in the meantime, I just don't care about any of these characters enough to see them out on their own.

Cant decide if I should watch this or not. I like the actors but it looks kind of boring. Wouldn't say this thread has swayed me either.

TC, did you see GOTG? Lee Pace is the villain in it. Thought he was pretty great too.

Sepinwall seems to think this episode has a decent possibility of being the series finale. Would make much more sense, considering what a pile of crap for a season finale it was.

Yeah, I saw it and liked it for the most part, but haven't had time to really organize my thoughts on it.

Pace is on fire, though. I have no idea if he was in the second Hobbit (didn't see it), but he looks to have a fairly large role in the third one this Christmas. I really hope he starts landing more leading roles.

As for the show itself, I seriously doubt it gets picked up for a second season (for all the reasons Sepinwall lists), but it's worth watching when/if nothing else is on. Overall, it's definitely a good show with only a few frustrating missteps here and there. If anything, it's worth it for the cast alone. I just wish the characters they played and their interactions were written a little better.

I'm going to use this opportunity to rant some more:

So in one of the best moments of the show, we have Cameron visiting Bosworth thanking him for taking the fall for her. He is likely going to go to jail for a long ass time. He calls her the future and wants her take the giant and take on IBM. She tears up, hugs him, and leaves.

Then what does she do a couple episodes later? She leaves the company and takes the whole development team with her. What a beotch.

She sucks. Joe sucks. Donna is starting to suck. What a load of crap. I may refuse to watch until those characters are killed off by an AIDS epidemic.

After all of her work to revolutionize the industry was stripped from the PC and she was essentially told she wasn't needed.

I'd have left too.
