Just starting the third book and really looking forward to the TV series. The trailer definitely doesn't line up with what I imagine, but at least it doesn't have any crazy spoilers that every other trailers seems to have these days.

Reading Nemesis Games now. I read that a showing at NY comic con was favorable and that the show is coming in December. Really looking forward to this.

Syfy needs to start making good shows again.

Syfy has renewed Killjoys and Dark Matter (both had their first seasons this year) which is very much in tune with old school SciFi Channel programming. This last year's programming also included 12 Monkeys which was pretty great as well.

Bringing this back up with the show coming out soon.

Nemesis Games was great. I didn't have any qualms with Cibola Burn, but I do realize after what went down in NG, that not much really happened in CB.

NG was especially great because we finally got into the heads of the characters we had spent so much time with rather than some random guy. Naomi's story was great as well as Amos and Alex's stories. It was kind of nice to have Holden not be as much of a focus.

Very excited to see where they go in the show and I am already very happy that they are adding Chrisjen Avasarala into the first season as she is pretty much my favorite character and I do think she will have some great added scenes in the show (similar to Snow in Hunger Games)

And I'm in. I'll have to watch it again later when I am paying more attention to it but it looks good.

Yup, just filler that just adds some backstory to some of the characters. Nothing important though.

Ok, that was pretty damn great. There was a lot to cover in the opener but everyone did pretty fantastic. Amos and Naomi didn't have too much yet, but I did like Alex. Avasarala, Miller, and Holden (I was surprised on him)all did great. Loved the verticality of the space sets as it really gave it sense of scale and the fact that artificial gravity doesn't exist.

They definitely captured the feel of this world and the characters in it.

I haven't read the books, but as someone who watches a lot of science fiction I was impressed with the amount of depth they gave the series' universe in one episode. Space flight felt real, complex, and dangerous. The characters are complex based on what we are presented with in the episode. The world felt tangible enough for me to buy into for a Syfy series (Syfy's Sanctuary felt blah because of the blue screen sets).

Lots of moving parts were introduced in just one episode. Syfy has gotten some decent programs going now on the channel with Killjoys, Dark Matter, 12 Monkeys, and now The Expanse. Here is hoping that the quality of the series stays as good as the first episode.

I really enjoyed the premiere! It followed the book very well. I wasn't a huge fan of one plot point that they changed, but I understand why they did.

Couple thoughts:
- I wasn't a fan of the Holden casting at first, but after the first episode he definitely is going to grow on me.
- There was a ton of material and they did a great job of introducing it to the book-readers, but my girlfriend (who had not read the books) was watching it with me and I could tell a lot of it went over her head.
- Loved the way the world felt "real".
- Really enjoyed seeing the Belter difference between the Earthers.
- Wish you could see the difference between Earthers and Martians better.
- Really liked the way the bird "flew" in zero g.

Also I thought Alex was Asian with a Texan accent or did I completely mess up the description of him in the book? And thankfully Alex in the show did not have an exaggerated accent

Thanks I think I picked up another detail and added it to him.

Yeah, I thought it was an interesting backstory that the part of Mars he was from was settled mostly by Indians that for some reason or other adopted the Texas/Old West persona.

Just watched it. That was pretty good.


Although I guess I missed the part in the books where Avasarala smoked 12 packs a day since birth.

Just a note, the second episode airs tonight apparently.

Only through 2 of the first 4 episodes so far, but really enjoying it.

It's pretty awesome, and I'm really enjoying the series. MOAR!

Enjoying it, and think it has a lot of potential... I used to write anything on SyFy off, but this is quite good.

Also have one more episode to go in Childhood's End, and I have liked it a lot as well.

First four episodes are up on Syfy and they just introduced the Roci. I like the design a lot and everything is now in place.

Yup, only two have actually aired on SyFy, though the first four are available through SyFy VOD (app, website, TV provider).

Just watched the second episode. I'm digging their portrayal of Amos. They got the good/loyal sociopath thing down.

I read all 5 books in the last 2 weeks based on this thread. Really enjoyed them. Then I watched the 4 shows so far. Some things have been spot on and other things they have already made some changes on.

enjoying the show. Not sure where it is going because I haven't read the books but it has my interest.
