Rome absolutely jumped the moment Octavian/Augustus aged more than 10 years in one episode.

Not really their fault as the had to cram 4 seasons into one, but that guy playing older Octavian looks NOTHING like the younger version. It was like Dick York/Dick Sargent bad.

Deadwood. The last episode contained four uses of f that I had never heard or considered. I'd say they had at least another season in the tank.

Definitely agree with Deadwood, one of my top 3 all time shows probably.

How about Cheers? Even with a several rotating cast members I don't think it ever got less funny.

(Edit:whoops somehow I missed the Cheers discussion. Well ad me to the pro-Cheers camp.)

Same thing could be said about M.A.S.H. probably although I'm mostly viewing it through the lens of re-runs.

On the other hand one of the all time worst shark jumps was Coach. That show went from one of my all time favorite comedies to depressingly bad when he went to the pros.

MST3K jumped when Joel left and Mike took over

This is a damn lie. Pistols at dawn, sir.

I'm a Mike guy. I didn't start watching until Season 8, so I'm also a Bill over Trace guy.

Joel makes me sleepy but I still like most of the episodes he did.

The Simpsons had a nice long slow jump that lasted about 3 seasons somewhere between seasons 8 and 11.

Seinfeld jumped when LD left. It changed from a thinking man's humor to more of a slapstick humor.

totally disagree. Other than last episode Seinfeld lost its footing very little after LD and in fact I think LD was losing it in season 7. Seasons 8&9 had Van Buren Boys, Frogger, Puerto Rican Day, Merv Griffen Show. Those are some of the best of the 180 episodes.

My theory has always been that if LD had stayed on in seasons 8&9 that the show would of actually jumped the shark.

Oh and I agree with OP. Breaking Bad is one of the most consistent great shows from beginning to end in TV history. Perhaps the greatest of all time in that regard.

One could argue that when George got a job and stopped being a loveable loser it jumped.

Maybe there is a reason why Mike and Co are still in business while Joel returned to being a janitor at an evil corporation.

Mike and Bill?!?! Blasphemy! Tom Servo was always the weakest of the 3 and when Joel and Original Crow left they increased his role along with that lady "Dr. Forrester". It was never the same.
