That's the only even remotely negative tweet at that link, but it's honestly encouraging. I LOVE the build-up/anticipation in movies like this. In Jurassic Park, we didn't see the T-Rex until an hour in, and the movie was better for it. I've heard they do a similar thing here, and that it works really, really well. Same goes for Jaws. Anticipating the monster can be just as thrilling as seeing the monster.

Jaws is my favorite movie of all time and you see very little of the shark. It's a page out of Hitchcock to build suspense and that just isn't done anymore.

I can't wait for this movie, but why was my first clear look at Godzilla in freaking Fiat commercial!

No reviews yet and it comes out next week. That's usually a bad sign, especially for summer blockbusters.

Basically, what I've been reading is, human story = kind of lame and one-dimensional, but serviceable. Monster story = awesome. Apparently the last half-hour is just insane (in a good way).

Sounds like concerns over Johnson and Olsen, but Cranston knocks it out of the park. Some wanted more BIG G but agree there was something to not blowing their load in the first hour.

86% on RT - count me in for sure.

Reviews are often better for these kinds of movies before they hit the theater. Then they will suddenly drop from 70-80% down to 30-40%. I'll wait until it comes out.

For comparison, the 98 disaster had 25% positive reviews on RT. This sounds like everything about Godzilla is perfect, the human plot is a little stale. I can deal with that. Giant monsters fighting to perfection is why I watch Godzilla. That and bad lip-synching.

Even the negative reviews say that they got the monster right.

It'll be the Citizen Kain of monster movies if there's a tie-in to Pacific Rim 2 at the end. Preferably with Cranston going over data with Charlie Day's and Burn Gorman's characters over the next attack.

We'll see.

It depends if you are the kind of person who wants to see the director's "vision" or not. In Godzilla's case it was filmed in two dimensions and converted to three after. Post-filming 3D conversion has come a long way from what I've heard, but I've always stuck to 2D out of principle when that is its original format.

My rule: unless filmed in 3D, see it in 2D

Why wouldn't you want to see Godzilla in all his three dimensional glory? This isn't an art house film.

My rule: Awesome summer action/monster/superhero movies=see it in 3D (and IMAX, if available)
