Just finished Season 1 of Breaking Bad on Netflix.

I went in cold and spoiler free. Other than knowing the overall plot and that the show is popular on here, I did not know much else about the show.

First off - LOVE the show. Very curious to see where they take the plot from here.

For those of you Breaking Bad fans, are there any "down" seasons? Are they all good? How do you rank them?

Would appreciate keeping spoilers off this thread.

Great thread - I am about halfway through Season 3 on Netflix myself.

Started Season 1 about a week agao when wife went on her annual two-week trip back home to see family.

Burning through episode after episode is greatness. I'm actually NOT looking forward to being caught up to real time because waiting a whole week in between episodes is going to suck.

To answer your question, oh yeah - season 2 &3 (so far) are at least as good, maybe better.

Although as things get "darker", I find myself wishing everything could get back to the way it was for the family before it all started - which I know is dumb, because no one wants to watch a show about a boring, normal family, ha.

Appreciate the "spoiler-free" request. To others - PLEASE respect that!

Season 3 was the weakest IMO but was still very good. Season 4 was ****ing insane.

season 3 weak? one minute? really? damn, that's still one of the most memorable episodes.

I rank them 4, 3, 2, 1. You are in for a wild ride that only gets better.

Weakest is what I said. It's all relative. Every season is fantastic.

Jesse getting over gf was kinda weak. I know, I know, drama. It took Jesse getting real low before S04 events occur.

I started a week or two ago as well, not knowing any spoilers just knowing the plot.

I feel like at this point (season 3) I am just starting to get annoyed with the characters... there's not much character development and they all just come off as *******s most of the time. With that said I think Bryan Cranston is an awesome actor.
The only character I really feel with is Jesse, but then half the time he acts like a reh-tard. Maybe it's just me?

No character development? I think you're watching a different show than I did.

Maybe our standards are different.
Or possibly what I'm trying to say is , for me, none of the characters are likable ...

That's a completely different statement and one I probably wouldn't argue.

The fly episode is almost unwatchable, not sure how that ****ty episode got made, but everything else is solid.

Until you realize the fly episode left an unaccounted for shoe in the lab...

They get increasingly better in my opinion (as far as seasons).

I'm almost to the end of Season 4. Fly was pretty awful but I'll agree with the previous posters... It gets better as you progress.

Fly is a GREAT episode IMO.

3 was my favorite by far. But 4, 2, 1 were excellent also.

Three is by far the weakest IMO, but as someone already mentioned, that's relative. It's still great stuff.

I've watched seasons 1-3, just started 4.

Season 1 and 2 were awesome. I liked season 2 more than 1.

I thought the series started out a little too slow for my likeing. But once the kid in the basement dies, then the series sets off.

I'm about 5 into S4. Gus is a sneaky son of a gun. Pollos Hermanos!

There are certain episodes that focus on character development or symbolism or foreshadowing instead of action/suspense/entertainment/etc. At the time, those episodes seem kind of boring and pointless. Sometimes, there are 2 or 3 of them back to back.

But when you go back and watch the series over again, you'll find that those "boring" episodes are when the most important stuff occurs and sets up everything else. They are why BB wins Emmys and gets 15 pages on TexAgs before the 1st episode of the new season even starts while Sons of Anarchy never wins crap and takes all season to hit 15 pages.

The show is subtle, and every little thing matters. Stuff that doesn't seem to matter or seems like pointless "filler" can turn up several episodes later to play significant roles in the plot. Characters who barely played any role in the storyline show back up 20 episodes later out of no where and have major effects on the show.

And just when the show has seemingly been lulled into a calm serenity, the pendulum swings the other way and all hell breaks loose out of the blue. So if you find yourself thinking it's lost its luster...just give it another episode or two...because you are very mistaken.

About season 3...the first half of the season was tough at times to sit through at times. But it gets VERY good about halfway through, and the episode "One Minute" is one of my favorite episodes of any show ever.

Each show stress me out. I find myself sitting on the edge of my seat.

I keep saying to myself - "There is no way that he is going to get out of this mess..."

I nearly passed out during the Winnebago in the junk yard episode.

I do not think I can handle this anymore, but can't wait for next Sunday night.

I'm in the same place now as the op was. Just finished season 1. Bought season 2 and dl-ing onto my iPad as we speak. I'm hooked! Glad to hear it only gets better!
