Loved the ending, but I completely agree with Ninja that it was a little too safe for my taste. I knew how it was gonna end a couple episodes into the last half of this season, or at least knew the basics of how it would go down. I was hoping for a darker ending, I didn't want Walt to have his redemption. I wanted him in the final scene to look around at his works and realize that it was all for not. Something like dying in a bath tub of his own money that his family wouldn't take. I didn't want happy, but hey, it was still pretty awesome.

Also, there is no way Jesse makes it very far before being caught. Everyone is happy for him, but I'm kinda sad. He's gonna someone's b*tch for the next 25 years.

Lost in this discussion so far is the brilliant flashback to Jesse building the box that he talked about in therapy a few seasons back. I look back on a a few of Paul's therapy scenes and consider them the best acting of the series. "You know why I'm here?! It's to sell you meth! You're nothing but customers!!"
great catch. Shows that Jesse was mentally prepared to start over. The wooden box story was from I believe season 3 when he was lamenting in therapy how he could have done something useful with his life instead of being a junkie - he was skilled at woodworking and took pride in it (another Jesse=Jesus sign). He said that he made the box for his mom but instead sold it for cheap drugs

This host of Talking Bad is godawful.

That box "daydream" is exactly what I'm talking about - everything in every episode has had a reason and a meaning. It's all the little things that makes this the best show ever.

Funny people saying this is what they expected. The way this season was going, I was expecting a The Wire type ending. It's one of the reasons I've stayed off this thread for the season. I enjoy it much more when not reading threads.

This season showed Walt that he wasn't as in control as he thought. Real bad guys stepped in and took everything. I was more expecting Walt's plan to fail and him die unceremoniously at the hands of the Nazi's.

Therefore, I'm happy with the ending.

He was trying to say "Gee, if everyone expected that, why didn't they post it?"

And actually, many posters posted very close predictions to the actual ending. Many episodes back, even.

Regarding the LOST vs BB discussion, LOST had more characters overall, so you didn't have to watch 20 minutes of the same character (skylar or Marie) that might drag an episode down

Say what you will about their place in the series as a whole, but I wanted to see more of those characters tonight.

A lot of us thought Marie would kill Walt or something crazy, but she was just back to being her old gossipy *****y self. But wearing white

Regarding LOST vs. BB...that's really a competition of 3rd or 4th place at best.

hth.

What's better than those two? 1 and 2 in my book

I wish they would've delved more into the pain that Marie went through after losing Hank, too. They kind of cast her aside after Hank was killed, although she might have just not been a good enough actress to handle it.

Off to rewatch the best series finale of all time- Friday Night Lights, which was as predictable and cliche as it could have been, yet still completely perfect for the series.

Elephant rider, watch the Sopranos and the Wire before getting angry. Obviously mine and Bunk's opinions don't matter much, but those shows are masterpieces. And I really wouldn't put Lost anywhere in the top 10, but again, that's just my opinion.

I thought I wanted a lot of dialogue/closure with the characters. Especially between Walt and Jesse. But I was really satisfied with the look they gave each other right before Jesse drove away.

This show was made the best show of all time because on top of the awesome writing, the acting of the characters were able to relay so much information without saying a single word.

Was Marie just in a full protective custody situation after the break-in at her house and had she just put all of her faith in the justice system to prevail? One of her advice lines to Skylar ended with "that's what Hank would have done"

The Wire & Sopranos run laps around LOST and BB(and I LOVE both LOST and BB).

Mad Men will likely be better in my book when it's done.

Homeland has had maybe the 2 most suspenseful seasons I've ever seen in television, and if it can keep it up for 3 more, I'd give that the nod too.

I'll say it again, many people completely disregard how mediocre the writing and acting was(outside of Cranston) in the early era of this television show. It grew and became outstanding, but the fanboy overreaction to every single thing done on this show is funny at times. Very basic notions in storytelling are now "genius" by the writers.

Fantastic series. Not the best ever. One of the strongest performances ever by one actor/character no doubt. Fun ride.

Seen em both as they aired. The wire definitely is a top 10 and probably top 5. Sopranos a top 20-30.
Lost loses to the wire in head to head in my book because Lost ended so lamely. BB is hands down best show ever.

****ing loved it. Cathartic. Got everything I wanted. If breaking bad was a 5 star dinner, this finale was a bowl of delicious, uncomplicated creme brulee to finish the meal off.

No complaints. Gilligan stick the landing.

Watched Sopranos, and it's top 5. Haven't seen the Wire, but I agree that Mad Men has the potential

Agree it was definitely cathartic. I didn't dislike the ending by any means. I liked it just fine. It was very by the book and expected but it felt good. I think it was going to feel cathartic no matter what happened.

Blog from this week that nailed the Felina theme but missed on the final ending (they guessed Marie would kill Walt).

http://previously.tv/breaking-bad/breaking-bads-upcoming-felina-finale-explained/

But the ending with Walt dying from a bullet in his side while getting a final piece of comfort from a meth lab just jumps out from the lyrics

From out of nowhere Felina has found me,
Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side.
Cradled by two loving arms that I'll die for,
One little kiss and Felina, good-bye.
