Jim what's wrong with Disturbed and Taproot? They may not be your faves, but it beats anything coming to Houston for awhile. Definitely better than R&B night at the Rodeo or the latest boy band appearance.

Don't see anything that trumps it to me. the only thing close is the Jagermeister Tour with Saliva, hed pe, Systematic, Stereomud and Breaking Benjamin.

Not at all DIA: I just don't care personally for 3 Doors Down. But I don't mind if you like them. At least it's not Creed.

You just have that holier than thou attitude about any band that is popular, that's all.

Because I despise Creed I have a holier than thou attitude about all popular bands? I don't think I'm nearly as elitist as a lot of the "experts" on this board are. I like plenty of popular bands. In fact some of my favorites are extremely popular - Staind, Korn, Sevnedust, Deftones, Godsmack, Pantera.

Like 3 Doors Down all ya want. It doesn't bother me. I just wouldn't pay my money to see them. Don't hate them, just indifferent towards them. But that makes me holier than thou I suppose?

There is not a lot. Interpol for one, owns all those bands (save Chevelle). I just don't like the bands. All frat daddy, get drunk, crap rock. lol. But to each his own.

Not many good concerts come here because the crowds here suck. I thought that before I moved here and still do.

Example : QOTSA came and the crowd was lame as hell. They are doing another tour and are skipping here because they hated it. They are only playing san antonio and dallas this time.

A lot of bands skip Houston due more to the fact that they get little or NO airplay here IMO. Which is pretty sad considering we have 2 rock stations. But I guess it's hard to work in new music in between Creed, Nickelback and Emminem songs.

I can't speak about the QOTSA crowd because I wasn't there, but I do know that the crowds for recent shows i've been to like Sevendust at Numbers and even the times I've seen the Deftones here were pretty good crowds. I think the fan base is here for harder music, it's just that for whatever reason what goes for the "normal" playlist at most rock stations doesn't crack the Nightly News here for at least 6 months after it's release unless it's one of their "Buzz Bands"

I'm with Sbisa on this one. The heavier the music, the better the concert.
Three Pantera concerts have proven that to me.

I find it amusing that downinaggieland thinks Sbisa has a superior music appreciation attitude when jim01 posted on this thread.

Jim, are you coming to the Burden Brothers show here in CS? Its gonna be a good one.

i heard disturbed is HORRIBLE live...not a big fan of them them anyway.

taproot is decent...i'd REALLY like to see chevelle, but i think i'm gonna hold out and see them open for audioslave.

Pearl Jam isn't skipping Houston for the 2nd tour in a row. Sleater-Kinney is opening.

By the way, Sparta is opening for Pearl Jam for part of their tour. Saw someone mentioned them.

Don't know if I am coming to the cd burden brothers show. They are playing here in houston on the 15th I think, or 14th, or something like that.

You all should come down to Houston with me when I go to my crazy ass shows. Not necessarily for the music (because you probably won't like it) but just to see how the kids at those shows react. I listen to some heavy stuff, mostly 'grind' these days but I still like to mix it up with more mellow stuff.

I saw Daughters, Of death, & Machine Gun Romantics in Houston at a house show with like 50 kids and it was crazy. About 10 people stripped to their underwear in the pit, and these included girls and guys. The lead singer from Of death got completely naked. It was insane and funny at the same time.
