As for Wayne, he's a really good rapper, no question about that. Probably the most improved rapper ever. His stretch from 2005-2008 was as good of a run as I've ever seen. But his fans are more annoying then Tupac's in their devotion and I never thought I would say that.

Up until the past couple of years, the poster boy for underrated rappers was Big Boi from Outkast. Glad to see him getting his due. Probably a top 15-20 rapper ever.

How in the world can anyone say that 2Pac is overrated?

Because he is! Duh.

Jay Z is more of a producer, but he is terrible when he is actually on the mic.

This thread lost all credibility when Nas was mentioned.

i think 2pac had a significant cultural impact, and i think as a character study he is pretty interesting, but as a rapper? i just dont think he was that hot. my opinion...

biggie was much better lyrically.

How about Wu Tang Clan as a group. For some reason I just never understood the love for them.

Eminem

Wu-Tang is just f'n weird. They are their own genre.

Also Pac and Eminem are def not overrated. Two of the best rappers ever, if not THE two best. Biggie might be ahead of Eminem though.

Eminem overrated? I am not a huge fan, but he is the sickest I have ever heard.

Most underrated goes to P.O.S.

Eminem is rated just about right. Definite top 10 guy. His "technical" rapping ability is pretty much flawless. The only thing keeping him from being the best ever is that, compared to other rappers who can make a legitimate G.O.A.T. claim, his catalogue doesn't match up as well. I would consider the Marshall Mathers L.P. as his only real start-to-finish masterpiece.

And I know this is all opinions, but y'all are nuts for short-changing the Wu-Tang Clan. Easily the best rap group ever. 7 of the 9 guys can literally rap better than 80% of everyone else rapping. Three legit contenders for Best Rap Album of All-time came from them.

I don't know, I just can't get into Nas. His music doesn't suck me in like more upbeat, gritty stuff...Eminem, Kanye, Del, Dr. Dre, Chamillionaire, etc. Obviously personal preference plays into thinking someone is overrated, but from what I've heard, I think there are a lot better people out there that deserve more credit.

And I really like Cudi, but not as much as most people, hence, I think he's overrated. And his singing is meh.

I hate Kanye as a person, and he probably gets too much credit, but he delivers pretty consistently, even when I want to hate him.

If eminem was black, he'd be just another rapper.

I can't believe some of you people even listen to this genre based on the names you're throwing out.

I think Kid Cudi is terrible.

I don't think Lil Wayne or Kanye are terrible, but definitely VERY overrated.

I don't think the Black Eyed Peas are rap, but whatever the crap is that they put out is the worst thing in the entire music industry.
