So, I saw on one of the previews a scene where Kunis and Timbercrap are sitting on a couch drinking beer, and it looks like they're drinking Shiner Boch. Anybody else see this?

I noticed that too, but I dont think its Shiner.

I have noticed many Shiner appearances tho:

In Hangover they have a bottle pyramid of Shiners, you can only see it in the scene when they are awakening from the ruffie.

In Always Sunny, there are multiple times in scenes where a character is moving a case of beer and its the unmistakable ram's head on a yellow box.

Tarantino's Grindhouse mentions Shiner by name in a beer order.

Secondhand Lions has the old farts drinking Shiner on their porch on their Texas farm...

You care more about a beer than Mila?

And her alleged backside nudity?

That's a new and interesting observation.

Hey, have you ever noticed that Michael Cera and Jesse Eisenberg kinda look alike? I saw the 30 Minutes or Less trailer the other day and was all "which one is it?"

shiner appeared numerous times in men of a certain age. it's a national beer at this point and they seem to be targeting tv/movie placement for their advertising.

I'd be interested to know how much of it is Shiner paying for advertising and how much of it is the film crew deciding to use it because it's a "cool beer" at the moment.

What the hell makes Shiner a cool beer?

shiner is all over the place (well, 41 states) why does this come as a surprise? Bud light products probably cost more for placement.. so they call up shiner.

People that are picky about beer like it. People that aren't picky about beer like it. It's from Texas. It's not pretentious.

I think you are confused about how product placement works.

Why would Bug Light products cost more for placement?

I don't know about ya'll but I am really looking forward to this movie. When has Timberawesome and Mila ever let us down? Yes I recognize that this looks like strings attached. But Ashton Puk'dnuts and Portman stink. And people are surprised that movie didn't do well...

$70M US and $150M worldwide on a $25M budget = did ridiculously well.

wrong. I tolerate it at best, but will never purchase shiner again at a store. I will get one on tap if I'm at a place that has crap for beer choice.

I drink Shiner when my choices are:

Shiner
Coors Light
Bud Light
Miller Lite

I'm also guessing you live in Texas. I promise you that Shiner is very much a cool beer all over the country.

That sounded kind of dou chey, didn't mean for it to. My only point is that Shiner is very fashionable, especially outside the state. It's kind of overexposed in Texas, but not so much elsewhere.

I also think that people assume that everything we see is product placement and I don't think that completely accurate. From a writing/ creative stand point, something like what beer a character drinks goes a long way with their image. I don't have any insight one way or the other, but I think most people are just assuming it's product placement without any insight.

You are assuming these things matter. They don't. Everything is paid for these days. Everything. It's possible Shiner was written into the script, at which point the folks in the product placement department would have kindly replaced it had they not anted up. There's no such thing as "artistic integrity", particularly in a movie like this.

No AN it is not. Good job with the google.

The reason I question that comes from a few examples that I've heard weren't paid for. The Modern Family crew claims that Apple didn't pay a penny for the ipad episode. I wish I could remember the source, but I remember hearing that the sponsors on the cars for Talladega Nights weren't paid for.

I certainly wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it turned out I was wrong and everything down to the carpeting that they showed on camera was product placement, but I'd be interested to find actual numbers no it rather than going off of people's assumptions.

so i have it backwards.. who cares.. they can probably plop a shiner in the movie and shiner won't care (if they even notice). If they plop a bud light, then A-B will be knocking on their door.

when I say plop i mean throw it in w/o the brands knowledge.

No really, you don't get it.

Freedom- here is all the proof you need. Zookeeper is a Sony movie, as is Friends with Benefits. There is simply no way in hell that Sony is paying to digitally stick their product behind the head of a character in a 4 year old rerun airing on Lifetime and not then turning around and charging for the beer in Justin Timberlake's hand. An assumption, sure, but if your marketing department belives in random product placement enough to pay for it, they are making money on the other side anywhere they can.

Why would they come knocking on their door? To say thanks? The only reason people at "A-B" would have a problem with Bud Light being used in a movie would be portrayal of their product in a negative light. Otherwise, it's just free advertising.

But more importantly:
