They somewhat debuted as a skit, but mostly it was a test vehicle.

The movie idea and script writing had begun well before SNL came into play.

2. Wayne's World

........

Everything else

.......

Dead last. Blues brothers 2000

And yes, that Blues Brother show at Reed was a nightmare. Topped off by the hot dog shot out of the shirt cannon that came apart in midair

In the first few years of SNL they didnt really know the direction of show. They did all kinds of skits and they had guys like Belushi who were incredibly talented whether they was singing or acting. Any chance to get them on the stage was going to be taken.

Danny and John first did the Killer Bees and sang some blues dressed as bees with John jumping around like an idiot and falling off a stool. It was awesome.

Then Danny came up with the concept of them being brothers from Chicago that had a band and the rest is history.

They assembled what has been called the greatest Rhythm and Blues band of all time, cut a record and went on tour to help promote their movie which was a comedy/musical. Its genius. Look at the blues mega stars that wanted to be a part of it. Wow.

A few have said it was a generational thing but I was born in 80 and fondly remember staying up late for Waynes World skits and going to see it in the theater. But I taped Blue Brothers on USA sometime around 89 or 90 and wore that son of a ***** out.

Adam Sandler's character "Cantine Boy" was the basis for The Water Boy.

So I would say Wayne's World and The Water Boy.

Was "Midnight at the Roxbury" based on a SNL skit?

If so, I thought it had some worthy-ness.

Worst. Halftime. Ever.

I just remember when they were about to come back out, and they announced "are you ready for more Blues Brothers?" everyone in the stands shouted "NOOOOOOO!!!"

I grew up in the 90s as well, but there is no question that Blues Brothers > Wayne's World. And I am a fan of Wayne's World.

Blues Brothers.....

Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
Jake: Hit it.

Waynes World is a distant 2nd...and everything else is a nonexistent 3rd

Blues Brothers is still hilarious 30 years later and I watch it whenever it is on tv at least for a little while. Comedic genius

Wayne's World was ok in '92, but I don't think I've watched it since.

I know its Rob Schneider but if you give the Hot Chick a chance it will go to the top of your list. Watched it a few weeks could not stop laughing. Those older movies The Blue Brothers, Caddy Shack were funny at the time. I dont think young people today would think they were funny though.

I loved Wayne's World when I was younger, but that is one movie that has not aged well. Much like most of Mike Myers' comedy
So, I Married an Axe Murderer says hello.

Blues Brothers . . . . . . . . . . Wayne's World . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Everything else.

And hell yes I had the Blues Brothers album -- on both vinyl and 8-track. Wore them both out.

Someone needs to tap him on the head when he overstays his welcome.
