Saw a show commemorating the 25th anniversary of the filming of Young Frankenstein tonight. Since the movie was filmed in 1974, this special has apparently been kicking around for a few years...

Has anyone else seen it? Good show on the making of one of the all-time great movies!

But, about 90% of the way thru it, they showed an assembly at some school where the remaining cast was on stage sharing their views and answering questions. Peter Boyle was saying how great it was to work with Mel Brooks - "and that goes for all of us (indicating the stage), and those who are no longer here... you know, Marty (Feldman) and everyone else"

Well, "everyone else" is Madeline Kahn, who has also passed away. I thought "how odd" that they wouldn't call her by name. And then it dawned on me that, except for outtakes from the movie, Madeline Kahn hadn't been mentioned at all the whole show!

They even had a "Final Tribute" segment devoted to Marty Feldman, but no mention of Kahn. She died of ovarian cancer in 1999... so I have to wonder - was it her illness that made them avoid the subject, or was she somehow a persona non grata with the rest of the cast?

Anyone heard anything about this?

Maybe the Q&A portion was filmed before 1999 and the "whoever" else he referred to was for people who worked on the film behind the camera.

Seeing as how the cast was only 7 people, two missing ones were very conspicuous when they were all on stage with Mel Brooks. One of the missing actors was mentioned by name, the other wasn't mentioned at all. In the rest of the special, they even had interview segments with Gene Hackman, who had the bit part as the blind monk and the random guy who played the student in the opening scene ("But Dr Frankenstein..." "That's FRONKensteen".

I can only remember one peripheral mention of Madeline Kahn by name, and nothing at all said "about" her.

(The Seven - Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn, Teri Garr, Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle, Kenneth Mars, Cloris Leachman)

I can only assume she was already ill when it was recorded and they were respecting her privacy? I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything.
