First episode was awful. Just awful. There's blood everywhere. I can't believe how much it sucked.

Yea it was pretty lame. I saw in interviews that they said it took them almost two months to write that first episode. Really? Did they forget to include the jokes? It seemed really lazy, substituting as many curse words as they could to try and get a cheap laugh. They cussed a lot in the first season but it seemed overly excessive without adding anything this time. I didn't laugh once the entire episode. Got a half chuckle with the fro when he finally took out the cornrows. Hopefully it gets better.

I giggled once when he sped off awkwardly from the Charros coach on his moped. And I guess when Stevie was a barista at Starbucks. Everything else was awful and just made me angry. I was going to be Kenny Powers for Halloween...but the Kenny Powers I know is dead and gone.

I'm holding off judgment for a bit. Slow start but I read a review earlier that has seen the first couple already that admitted the first episode was pretty weak but claimed next weeks is one of the best so far in the series. Guess we'll have to wait and see

I laughed at the little stuff...

The Denali on blocks in the barrio, just the sight of the midget in the sidecar drinking the beer...

overall the one-liners weren't there like the 1st season but a lot of subtle humor.

it wasnt good at all. the mexico thing doesnt do it for me. I wish it was back at the high school.

His interaction in inappropriate places and with people is what made it so funny. The mexico thing ruins it all.

and stevie is the best guy on the show, without him it brings it down alot.

That was so beyond brutal. I'm a HUGE fan of season 1, and what I just watched was an embarrassment.

Y'all didn't think Aaron was hilarious? The coke/moped scene and the scene in the stands at the baseball game? The vintage Kenny Powers racism? "Como se dice, gato?", the way he owned the sax player?

Solid episode. Does a better job of capturing the authentic sleazy "boystown" type vibe present in many parts of Mexico too.

Seriously, that was the EXACT Kenny Powers from last season only in a diff environment.

That was awful. There was one scene that got more than a frown out of me, and it was so tame I can't even remember the scene. It reeked of trying too hard.

Wow, you seem pretty emotional over this...sorry you are taking this so hard. And everyone knows Carlos Mencia is awful and a thief. Sorry they changed Kenny's hair for the first 25 minutes of the show. That was the only difference in his character/humor. Not the best episode ever but I don't know what people were expecting.

I guess I will just consider myself lucky to be so easily amused. At least we can all agree that Boardwalk Empire is a badass show.

it has nothing to do with emotion. I watch shows for entertainment. I don't let crap entertain me. When shows become crap, I see them as such, and don't give them credit. There was a huge difference in season 1 and what I just saw tonight.

I'm not going to just say it was funny for the sake of saying it when it in fact sucked. This is a message board built for discussion. Saying it sucked does not = emotional involvement...ESPECIALLY in a show as loose as E&D. that being said...I will call a spade a spade, and this episode was beyond awful.

and yes, even with an episode that moves much slower than the pilot and is more character-driven...there is pure brilliance in the boardwalk episode tonight. We agree that boardwalk is a great show.

Stevie will be back this season. He tracks Kenny down in Mexico. Supposedly he's the only season 1 character coming back.

That line made me laugh out loud, but that was about it. I thought episode 1 was pretty weak as well, but because of last season I'll give it all of this season before I decide one way or the other.

i let out a blurt of laughter when Kenny says something to the effect of "Look at the got damn sax player from 'Lost Boys' trying to rub the language barrier in my face."

other than that, it was pretty "blah" except for the sight jokes like him tooling around on a moped on the baseball field, flicking everyone off.

Just caught it, and I am trying to figure out what isnt funny about Kenny Powers moving to Mexico in cornrows, cockfighting, and being double crossed by a Mexican midget...

i thought it was good. it wasn't super funny but i feel like it was just a set up episode and it'll get back to season 1 funny next episode

Just saw it last night and was everything I expected, and enjoyed.

All the little things are what makes the final product so funny.

Kenny's amusement as the midget was trying to pick a fight with the guy in stands at baseball game really had me laughing.

Enjoyed for none other reason than it meant Kenny P. was back. Yes, the other episodes were stronger, but this was a transition episode, now that the new seeds are planted things should improve.

Here is where I'm confused. Netflix has a season 2 in the wings from 2009. The montage they showed at the beginning of episode 1 to recap last season had scenes that were not in last season i.e. him ditching the chick at some gas station or somewhere because he had lied about a comeback.

So, is this really season 3? Very confused.

He did ditch April at a gas station, it was at the end of the last episode. The only extra thing they showed from that was him putting her suitcase in the parking lot. In Chapter 6, they just show her in the gas station buying something then she comes out and the car is gone and her bag is sitting there.

All in all though, I thought it was a good episode. It's good to see Kenny back on TV, and I know it will pick up. I thought it was a great filler from when he left North Carolina to where he is now in his life in Mexico.

You and I have the exact same sense of humor. I didn't laugh at all until he took out the cornrows. I was very disappointed in this episode. If episode 2 isn't any better, they've already lost me as a viewer.

Which is fine, because I already have Boardwalk Empire & Dexter to watch on Sunday nights.
