I really don't get the love for this movie. After the 6th Sense it was a ginormous letdown for me, and really set the stage for Shaymalan's descent into total crapdom.

I like "Unbreakable". I heard that it was supposed to be the first of a trilogy but never worked out.

I thought that was a great idea.

Was it shown letterboxed, so that it was in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio?

If it wasn't, and someone was seeing it for the first time, they would lose a big chunk of the story's aspect.

MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD

BEWARE

David Dunn was, in essence, a comic book hero. In scene after scene we see Dunn in what strongly resembles a frame from a comic book. So often there's an object of some sort in front of him to place the man in a shadow box.

Great, great movie. I just wish they could have made the other two in the series.

I remember some of my friends telling me how good the 6th sense was, so I watched it. I wasn't even to the halfway point when I pointed out that the dude was dead. Knowing that meant the rest of the movie was total crap. Unbreakable, on the other had, I didn't catch on to the ending until maybe 30 seconds before it was revealed. It was a much better movie, and to me is the only Shaymalan movie that is actually pretty good.

The movie was released in 2000.

After 9/11, I gather that releasing another movie about terrorist bad guy probably did not receive a lot of attention.

It was the first M. Night movie I watched, and thought it was pretty good. Moved slowly, but was good.

I love this movie, but the whole 'never got sick' thing never sat right with me. He had to ask his boss and his wife if he had ever been sick. Wouldn't a 42 year old man know if he'd ever been sick - and if he'd never been sick, wouldn't that have stuck out to him? Plus, everyone knows what it feels like to be sick because they experienced it in the past (i.e. sore throat, raw chest, stomach ache, etc) - you wouldn't have these memories if you were never sick. Seems like M. Knight played this with a bit of a heavy hand.

Other than that, I love the movie. Awesome take of Superheros.
