Hard to believe this week marks 20 years. RIP

One of my biggest regrets ever was skipping that Alpine Valley show. I was going to go with my sister, but all we could get were lawn seats for $40 each IIRC and she didn't want to spend that much to sit on the grass. I was sick when I heard about the helicopter crash the next day.

I always post this on the SRV threads on his passing. But I moved to TAMU the day of his crash. It's simultaneously hard to believe he's been gone 20 years and it's been that long that I've been in CS.

I was walking down the Quad in 1990 when a friend told me how sad he was that SRV died. I was like "Who's Stevie Ray Vaughn?"

Since then, I have appreciated his greatness on levels that can't be explained. The El Macombo DVD is like a nuclear weapon of blues rock.

the acoustic YouTube sets were broadcast live on MTV Unplugged,...hosted by Jules Shear, Joe Satriani was the other guest that night. I saw it on live TV, and VCR'ed it,...oh well, tapes don't last

earler, in 1987, MTV broadcast 3 straight nights from Mardis Gras, live on a riverboat, SRV & Double Trouble, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, & then both groups playing together on the last night...that shoot produced the vid of Stevie & Jimmy playing the same double neck guitar,....PIPELINE

I only saw him once, back in 1977 at a truck stop in Arlington.

Regret that I thought later on, I could see him again somewhere in Austin. I was working in Dallas then, and due to the aerospace bidness, I didn't get much time off
