Speaking of authenticity, where's the Allsups?

No joke.

I think the lack of either an Allsups or a Town & Country is a sign that it's not actually set in West Texas.

Yeah, but for the part about playing in 5A, Brownwood is a really good fit for Dillon.

Yea...if you really want to get picky, the timeline is really out of whack too. In school, out of school, in school, at practice, partying, etc.

Except there are 2 5A high schools in town. That's why I could see it being a good fit for a Midland/Odessa/San Angelo/Abilene type town.

Yeah. It's hard to reconcile the two 5A schools with the perceived size of the town itself. I guess we just have to pass it off to dramatic license.

I'm always bad about suspending disbelief when it's a topic I'm familiar with. The inaccuracies in the football schedules and the playoff bracket in "Friday Night Lights" the movie nearly caused me to pass out. Heck, I got worked up over the scoreboard at Abilene's Shotwell Stadium. Not only was it a new scoreboard and not representative of 1988, but the sponsors on the board all had their current logos, not the ones in use in 1988.

I know, I know. I need to just chill out.

I used to be that way too. You should grow out of it.

Yeah me too. Kind of like in Varsity Blues (awful movie, I know), where they win district and then he closes the movie by saying "That's the last football game I ever played..." NO IT'S NOT - you're going to the playoffs!!!!

As for the size of Dillon - maybe it's about like Bryan - they've got a big 5A, and isn't Rudder 4A? Not too big of a stretch to see an East/West Dillon situation there in a couple years.

i think you are probably right.

PS - does the brownwood mall still contain a K-MART as one of the anchor stores? talk about sad.

PPS - before the brownwood nerds correct us, yes the brownwood mall is actually in Early, TX

EW saying they tried to get Billy Bob Thornton to play Coach Gary Gaines in the series finale, but he couldn't free up his schedule. Would have been a fun touch.

I dont know. They tried to cram too much into the second half of last season with too little time to do it. Would have been interesting though. I'm sure they could have found a way to make it work with the story.

Tried to get him for next season, not the finale that just aired on NBC.

I know that

edit: I should say that these 13 episode seasons are just not quite long enough for my taste to cram a whole season of the football teams struggles along with all the other plots. I think an 18 episode season could be quite perfect. The second half of Season 4, and the finale in particular, felt very rushed.

Shut your mouth the whip cream scene alone keeps that from being an awful movie, not to even mention the teacher.
