I'm taking my 10 yr old son! His first concert ever, and my first at Red Rocks!

The only time I saw Rush, they had front loading laundry dryers onstage. A roadie would come out every so often and drop quarters in them to keep them running... very strange.

Cool! I didn't know Rush Limbaugh was in concert! I think it's important that kids learn political conservatism from the best out there!!

Then they switched to rotisserie chicken.

The reason for the dryers and the chicken cookers is because Geddy plays through the house speakers and has no amps on his side.

He wanted to do something to counter Alex's setup...

My kid loved it! I think he was a little overwhelmed when Alex Lifeson came on stage. PurpleJr. is an aspiring guitarist! The show was great and I loved the second set when they played the entire Moving Pictures album.

I'm going to see them Sep 25th. Did they play any new songs? New album is supposed to be coming out next month.

Took one of my boys, 14 at the time, to the 2007 tour stop in SA. Guess I need to get my overpriced ticket for Sep 23!

What does that mean, "Geddy plays through the house speakers, no amps?" Has it always been that way? I remember seeing them about 10 years ago and it was one of the quitest rock shows I had ever attended. Is this part of the reason? Was in the reserved section and didn't even have to raise my voice to talk to my friend.

Going again in Sept, very excited.

He plugs directly into the soundboard/PA via amp simulators.

RAB - Yep, a couple of songs from the forthcoming album! Got back away from the synth stuff from the 80's and the songs were pretty good!

If i had to guess I'd say about half of touring guitarists/bassists don't actually use their amps on stage. when they don't, the amps are there for show, and are not mic'd.
many artists go directly into board, and use in ear monitors, making the stage void of all noise except for drums.

Rats, the last I heard (months ago) they were shooting for a Sept release. I guess it got pushed back.

Myself and these guys strongly disagree:

The Paul Rudd character is actually how I envision most Rush fans to be. I can see all five or so of you who post here everytime Rush is mentioned at home, "slapping the bass."
