predator and the expendables are on completely different levels. a better comparison would be commando or something that is more shooting and less plot.

Crews' Character name in the movie is Hale Caesar, hence 'Caesar' on the blade.

Uli, Charisma Carpenter was in her late 20s when she was playing a high schooler on Buffy. Personally, I thought she still looked good in The Expendables.

I have to agree AggieFox. I was ready for a good shootem up, blowem up, etc, but this movie was crap. Did I enjoy seeing all the old action stars? Yeah. I liked Crew's shotgun scene. But for an action film, the action wasn't that good. Statham's gutting of all the baddies was cool, but asside from that that, it was pretty lame. Watchin some of these guys in front of the camera was painful.

This film was great. I went in hoping for an 80's style over the top action movie. I wasn't disappointed. I question which team you're playing for if you're a guy over 25 and you and didn't like this movie.

I thought the action scenes (particularly Statham's) were some of the best I've seen in a while.

I thought it was pretty good. I didn't cream my pants like some people did.

And watching Stallone run was painful.

i hated it, and I like action dumb plot movies. the acting was terrible for veterans of the screen, and the effects weren't much better. I was very disappointed. I wanted this movie to be great, but it just wasn't.

Good movie. Not great. Beginning was good, the middle drug really bad.

The last half hour was f-ing insane and some of the best bone-crushing action I've seen in a long, long, LONG time.

So, I'd recommend the movie and even say see it in the theater and not just wait for DVD.

WTF? Sly was nominated for a razzy just about every year between 85 & 95, Dolph Lundgren's greatest performance had him utter like 3 lines all movie ("if he dies, he dies," "I must break you," and "I fight for me!!!", Couture is an MMA fighter whose breakout role was the lead in the Scorpion King 2, Jason Statham, arguably the best actor of the bunch, is most famous for The Transporter series (all of which are dogsheet), Terry Crews is best known as the insane, ripped guy from the Old Spice commercials, and Jet Li does plotless martial arts movies (ever seen Romeo Must Die or Cradle 2 The Grave? Those are his best performances...). Heck even the cameo was from Arnold, who made B- action flicks in his prime and D- comedies afterward. Where are all the wonderful actors you're talking about?

Hell, if we're being honest, this was about the best these guys have ever acted.

I was surprised when the wife said she wanted to see this movie. We went last night. Overall it was a good movie (wife said it was ok), but I think for me it didn't really have any truly memorable scene. I really enjoyed the SA-16 strafing the dock and lighting it up with some avgas and a well placed flare, but I don't think that sequence will hold up like some of the sequences in the Rambo movies, or in Schwarzenegger's Commando/Predator, or Bruce Willis' Die Hard movies.

So Terry Crews with that ridiculous automatic shotgun wasn't memorable?

Dolph Lundren with the best lines in any movie he's ever been in wasn't memorable?

Not really.

The gun was cool but I rather liked the big gun in Predator better.

Edit - I've only seen one other movie featuring Lundgren, that being Rocky IV. I didn't even recognize him at first in this movie, it wasn't until he got in the fight with the Asian that I finally recognized him as Ivan Drago.

i enjoyed it. could it have been better? sure. as mentioned before, there could have been some better humor. also, where was the random boob shot that should have come? there was a great opportunity and they missed it

but i still enjoyed it. i thought it held up well with some very basic principles: ridiculous body count, creative kills, awesome weapons, and the heros make it out without dying

my favorite part was the fly by. that was hilarious and awesome at the same time
