Saw the midnight release last night.


This movie was hilarious from start to finish. Russel Brand and Jonah Hill work great together, and P Diddy played on of the funnier characters of the past few years. I don't want to overhype Diddy, but he really did blow me away in this movie.

Is Jonah Hill playing the same character as Forgetting Sarah Marshall or just Russell Brand?

Just Russell Brand.

Jonah Hill is playing the fatter older brother of the guy in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Very entertaining movie, especially considering it's based on a fairly weak premise. Brand and Hill definitely worked their ass off to carry this thing and succeeded, Diddy definitely pulled his weight too. Thoroughly entertaining hour and a half, though weaker that its predecessor Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Rose Byrne shocked with some comedic chops, after only being seen in heavy drama roles like in Damages. She follows the Apatow path of getting a supporting role in one of his films, then taking a lead in the next, as she'll be co-starring with Kristen Wiig in a female-heavy film he has coming out soon.

This is Aziz Ansari's second Apatow supporting role in a row after Funny People...when is Judd going to give him a starring vehicle?

Not the same character as in FSM for Jonah Hill. Saw it this afternoon, hilarious. P Diddy was a riot. The friendship aspect between Hill and Brand was great.

Does Aldous mention that Jonah's character looks familiar (or anything like that)? It seems like it would be weird otherwise. Why have an actor from the original movie play a different character in the sequel without some explanation?

Wouldn't call this a sequel.

More of a movie with one of the main characters from another movie, very few references to that movie, and a completely unrelated plot.

Almost more of a spinoff than a sequel

It would be weirder if he did mention it. "Hey man, you look like this dude I met in Hawaii this one time when I was banging Sarah Marshall." Much easier to just ignore it. Nobody really cares and can accept that it's a fictional world.

If anything, they should have left the single Sarah Marshall reference that appears out and just let the movie stand on it's own.

What if Paul Rudd was the president of the record company and Kristen Bell was his secretary?

That wouldn't have been weird?

I still think people shouldn't play different characters in movies where other characters stay the same. They should have just gotten Seth Rogen for this part (while he was still fat)!

At his fat rate, does Hill make it to 30?

I see a Jack Osbourne weight loss scenario for Jonah. In the next 3 year, I bet he drop 60 or more

Very pleasantly surprised by this movie. It was pretty damn good all the way through. I have a new found respect/like of P-Diddy....he played his character perfectly and was hilarious at it.

Liked it a lot... had to sit on the first row because we got there late so that took away from it a bit. Looking forward to seeing it again.

the threesome scene was ridiculous enough to not be very funny...and kind of stupid.

I see your point Gig Em G, and I thought that scene was a little too 'forced' as well, but let's not pretend that the rest of the movie is funnier just because it's more 'believable'. The entire thing was so ridiculously over the top, and that's why it was funny.

I honestly went into this movie thinking I was going to hate it. I ended up laughing the whole way through it.

Hill has almost always been that size.

It seems like they slimmed him down in Superbad to make the role a bit more believable but he was just as fat before then.

a little Russel Brand goes a long way...

sorry but i have little desire to watch hill play the same gd annoying roll he has played in every movie he has even been in. which sucks because i really think russell brand is hilarious
