really? with a little effort it is pretty easy to be in the top 10% of your high school class.
the morning dump i just took could graduate top 10% with a little tutoring.

Hence the problem with Top 10% rule. A trained chimp could get in the top 10% of some inner-city schools, while other schools are very competitive, with 50%+ of graduating seniors going on to universities.

There is a former basketball dance team member named Martha ? (can't recall her last name) that has a regular role on the soap opera 'Days of Our Lives'. I met her a few times around 10 years ago when she first got out of school and moved to New York to try to get into acting.

There are a number of Aggies like myself and Mike Santos who are out trying to make it in the entertainment world in various ways. Mike and I were in the Corps and were in shows together in the A&M theatre department.

Before you ask, I'm not famous and I probably haven't been in anything you have ever seen...unless you're in the military and watch AFN.

There's a comedy troup in Dallas that's run by some Aggies. There's also quite a few Aggies working in theatre in the DFW area. I met a few in Chicago while I was there,and I'm sure there's a ton in LA and NYC trying to make it.

Small time so far, but Brett Davidson is making some headway. He was at A&M for 2 years before transferring to Pepperdine so that he would be closer to LA for acting possibilities.

Are you saying that having over 50% of a graduating class going to college qualifies it as competitive? I would have guessed that the average public school graduating class has like 90%?

Granted I went to private school my entire life and never met someone from a public school until I was in college...but of our 150 or so that graduated with us I believe 2 did not go to colleges. I imagine our brother and sister schools had similar ratios

But on topic of the thread there is a guy Josh Carter (not basketball josh carter...but jcarter1017 or somethin on texags) that is making a name for himself in stand up comedy. Hes good...hes even opened for like Jim Gaffigan and a few other big names I think. Hes class of 2010

I think it's definitely a case of you being shelter from public school. I went to an okay public school, I think it was an "Exemplary" or something based on TASP scores, and about 20% of my graduating class went to college.

I went to a very diverse school in Tyler and I would say 80%+ of the kids went to some form of college. Although I would say only 25% went to major universities and probably 50% went to universities at all.

There are definitely plenty of Aggies in Entertainment out here is LA. Our theatre company has been around for over 8 years and currently has a show running with myself, my wife and Julia Duffy of NEWHART fame...the company has many Aggie members. www.furioustheatre.org

Their whole family is class act. The sister is back in CS. One of the nicest people on earth (and yes...VERY married).

He's been in a bunch of short films as well that he isn't credited for on IMDB.

Brett, Mike Santos, and Ronnie Blevins are all great guys and [as far as I've ever known] class acts. Guessing that they're doing A&M proud wherever they are.

It's cool to see them starting to make some headway in that world.

My brother was in Date Night (with Steve Carell and Tina Fey).

But he is a Bearcat and lives in NYC now so meh.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Chris Tomlin. The guy has made about 15 contemporary Sunday morning staples in a 10 year span. After it's all said and done, he will be A&M's most famous former student.

The "Weird Science" guy and Rip Torn are true stories.

What happened to some of the frat guys that used to have bands that played the Tap in the early-mid 90s? Some of them went to Nashville to try their luck.
