I remember wondering what a "day tripper" was when that song came out in the middle sixties.

So I found a Brit and I asked.

In England, a day tripper was originally any tourist, vacationer or traveler who never went to a destination so far away that they couldn't return home that same night.

At a beach resort, for example, the locals who depended on the tourist trade would complain that the daytrippers only came to swim and sunbathe for free and never paid to use the accomodations or restaurants.

They brought everything with them and left to go home without renting a hotel room for the night.

It grew to derisively describe someone who lacked the financial means or the personal freedom to stay away from home overnight.

The term then evolved to describe anyone who did things part way and specifically came to mean a girl who wouldn't spend the night with her boyfriend.

In the Beatles song, the lyric goes "she's a pr*ck teaser, she took me half the way there."

That's often censored to "big teaser" in lyric books, but rememver it being pretty clear on the original recording.



Anyway, that's what I remember learning about daytrippers back in the day.

So, if she's a hoar, she'd have to be one that didn't do the deed or spend the night.

I submit that makes her a pr*ck teaser, rather than a hoar.

When I listened to the song tonight from an internet source, it clearly says "big teaser," so sometime, somewhere, some censoring pr*ck has teased it.
