I recently fell in love with Janis Joplin. They've been trying to make a movie about her since 06. You think it'll ever come out? Pink was originally casted but now it's Zoey Deschannel. I love Zoey and think she's the most talented actress/singer but I think she's way too clean cut and glamourous to play Joplin.

Who would you cast?

I like Lindsay Lohan for this role, because she's also misunderstood and a party girl but is really good at what she does, and if youre hiring a singing coach for Deschannel to switch styles and sing like Joplin, mine as well have done it for Lohan, shes just tougher and can play a grittier one.

Maybe Janeane Garofalo if she was younger

I actually think Renee Zellweger could pull it off, many don't seem to like her, but she's a total chamelean (sp?) in her roles, they're all very different and she changes completely for them, Cinderella Man, Cold Mountain, Chicago, the british girl movies, etc.

Wow, this has to be a joke comment.

Lohan would ruin this, she's become a total joke and imo is actually a bit mentally ill, she literally stalks that man-thing she claims to love, never sleeps or eats and already looks about 35 instead of 23 due to her chain smoking and partying. Unless she gets it together (and she doesn't have the parental support Britney did), girl will be dead by 28.

One promising, she is pathetic now.

Looking at that Joss Stone picture, if she played Janis Joplin she better get extra money for the make up time she'll need to ugly her down. A lot. By the way, is she a crappy singer too?

To each his own, but for me personally listening to Janis Joplin is like fingernails on a chalkboard. Even if you like her, can you honestly say she had a good singing voice? Maybe I'm missing something after all these years of hearing it.

Keeping on track, Uli's suggestion gets my vote. Whoever plays her will have to be dog ugly.

I love Joplin's voice. She never would have been in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir or anything, but that doesn't mean she didn't have a great voice for rock & roll. Then again, I love singers like Tom Waits, Howlin' Wolf, Bob Dylan, etc.

Of course she doesn't have a "beautiful" voice.

I like her voice. It's very rocky and gravely. Bob Dylan isn't a great singer, but his voice creates a mood and fits the songs. Same with Joplin. I mean Mariah singing Me and Bobby McGee would be awful.

I don't know if she can act, but Joss Stone would be a good choice as a performer. I heard her sing Janice once and she nailed it.

I think there are two separate Joplin movies in the works right now. One with Zooey and one with Renee Zellweger.

I have no clue if she could do any serious acting, however.

It's already been done in '79 with "Bette Midler" playing the part very well...

Joss Stone played the 4th wife of Henry VIII on Showtime's The Tudors. I thought she was good. She has a really hard character to portray and did a great job.

Janis Joplin was heinous. You need a semi-heinous actress to play her and it wouldnt hurt if the chick could sing.
