There about 2 choice words throughout the entire movie...pretty good if you ask me.

There is a sex reference at the beginning and then shortly after there is a scene with two ladies in their undies. It happens pretty quick and your boy will most likely be more confused about one of them being a green chick then anything.

There is a good bit of violence but in this day and age, it was pretty minor. Kirk fights a bunch, so there is some blood.

I told a coworker to take his 8 year old.

I think it is a good, clean movie that your boy will enjoy.

no sex scene perse, he's just on the bed with the green girl and then the roomate comes in. does take her clothes off but has underwear on, nothing worse than a bikini... the entire scene is like 2-3 minutes at most. they see worse in commercials these days!

Going to have to disagree. There's no actual nudity but they're pretty damn close to getting it on.

Aside from that, just some violence that can't be any more graphic than a WB cartoon and 1-2 cusswords he very likely already knows.

If you do not mind you child seeing two people making out in just their underware, then go for it.

To me, nudity is not the big deal.. I'd rather have my young kids watch a movie where a naked woman walks out of the shower than the siloette makeout scene in Top Gun. My kids know people take showers, but I don't want to explain the "getting it on" aspect.

The sexual content is no worse that what is on prime time network TV. Based on how you feel about that I think you can make an accurate decision on how you would feel about the movie.

To the OP: there is no sex scene and no full nudity. No worse than a Victoria's Secret commercial. There is nothing in the movie that could not be broadcast on prime time television.

How far into the movie does it happen, and is it obvious that its about to happen? I may just do the "earmuffs" thing (but with his eyeballs) during that part.

I think they cut to it but you should be able to cover his eyes pretty quickly. It's when Kirk is at the academy. Maybe 20 minutes in but that's a wild guess. Other than that I can't imagine anything anyone would object to a 9 year old seeing as long as you're ok with the s-word once or twice.

Na.. he's heard me say all sorts of things in the car when people cut me off or something.

Kirk will get on the transport to go to the academy. This is where you will learn how Bones got his name. Directly after this scene, is the scene being discussed. Cover his eyes, or go to the bathroom, for about 2 minutes and you will be okay.

20-30 minutes into the movie.

scene in question is Kirk and bones come out of a building at the academy. Kirk is really excited and tells bones he is going to attempt the Kobiashi exam again. Bones calls him an idiot for trying it 3 times. Kirk says he has to go study for the test which bones replies yea right then it cuts to the scene of him and shehulk going at it.

BTW the green chick is Rachel Nichols and she's really really hot.

I saw Star Trek: First Contact when I was about 8 or 9. Scared the **** out of me. I couldn't go to sleep for the next few weeks because I was sure that the borg was going to transport into my room, take me onto their cube and cut out my eyeballs.

Saw the original Terminator around that age as well as Top Gun.

Certainly waaaaaay lighter than Terminator in the violence department and lighter than both in the sex arena.

Definetely OK for a 9 year old.

i think it depends on your kid. if you don't let him watch kids shows on tv with mild violence, he might get scared.

there was more violence done against our o-line last year than in this movie.
