He met Sun/Jin at their wedding.

He met Kate when she was a kid and she and her friend Tom were trying to steal a New Kids on the Block lunchbox. The shopowner caught them but Jacob appeared and paid for the lunchbox to get Kate out of trouble.

thats what I was thinking but I think the healing of the island is what "cured" Jin.

I dont think its Sun because she was the only one that was touched and didnt go to the 70's
