I thought the movie was exactly what I had expected - lots of action, pretty decent effects, fun display of mutant abilities and a shallow portrayal of the main character.

Those who have seen it, what did you think about the three alternate ending scenes (shown after the ending of the complete credits)?

*********** SPOILERS TO FOLLOW *************

My two chief complaints (and I know they are petty):
1) They ruined the character of Deadpool by making him Weapon XI at the end (if in fact that's what they did).
2) Gambit, while well cast, had too few scenes and really had no trace of a Cajun accent.

I thought there were only 2 alternate endings.

1 - Deadpool reaching for his head and his eyes opening.

2 - Wolverine drinking to remember.

What was 3?

I have two questions for those that followed the comics.

A - Also from the other thread. Any reason for the difference in how Sabertooth looks between this movie and X-men? If he looked the same for 150 years, why did he look even more like an animal in the original X-men trilogy? I'm guessing there's no reason except for different directors but I thought I would ask.

B - Why the hell did Gambit blow up the street when Wolverine had Victor? He admits he didn't like that guy, so why didn't he operate under the enemy of my enemy is my friend mantra.

The third ending is playing at a different theater. Each theater got a print with a different ending after the credits.

The third one is supposedly deadpool saying that there was a clone of him or something like that.

This is how it happens in the comics, he is cured of terminal cancer because of the healing power of wolverine. A few of the powers he never gets though, they just went a bit too far.

Deadpool ends up turning back into a good guy again.

One cool thing about deadpool is that he breaks the 4th wall a lot. He did it at the end of the one I saw, when he looks at the audience and says "SHHHHH"

A- they wanted a better actor, they didnt care about consistency. also, they were just going for a more "realistic" feel to it

B- I don't think Gambit saw that wolverine was about to kill sabretooth, he didnt realize what was going on and just hit logan because he had elbowed him

i read somewhere the that there's a version where Wade walks up and see weapon 11's head, and says "who the hell are you supposed to be?"

don't know if that's true, but that would imply that weapon 11 =/= deadpool...just a cloned variation of some sort.

who the hell knows what's going to happen.

BTW, I thought Victor was the best part of this movie.

There is a rumor of a 3rd ending with Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) walking up to the head of weapon XI but its not true, proven to be false.

They screwed Deadpool over in this movie end of story.

You don't read the comics do you?

It bothered me that they injected Wolverine's girlfriend with the stuff and slowed her heart and poured blood on here, but Wolverine didn't feel the need to check where the blood came from. She wasn't stabbed or shot or any scrapes she just had blood on here. Wolverine is dumb.

Who knew it was a chick flick? My sig other mentioned that about 2/3rds into the film.

Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not as upset about Deadpool. Here's why:

Deadpool has survived decapitation TWICE in the comics as his healing factor is actually more advanced than either Wolverine or Sabertooth. His head still has to be placed against his neck to reattach.

it felt like they took a bunch of comic canon and threw it all in a blender. everything felt rushed. a little more gambit and deadpool would have helped. i think that liev schreiber hands down gave the best performance.

Now it looks like Magneto's Origins film will have to explain how Sabertooth didn't remember Wolverine in the first X-Men movie.

even if wolverine were decapitated in this film he would not have died

wolverine and sabertooth both have a special sword that can only kill them, the assumption is the same sword can kill deadpool too

He's the Blob.

Anyone else think the Professor X scene at the end looked very weird?

He kind of looked like he was wearing a woman's suit and had that odd saintly glow about him.
RAB97

Thanks. I thought it might have been that obvious, but I had never heard of that character before so it was lost on me.

Yeah, my buddy and I were commenting on that as well. It looked like a c.g. Patrick Stewart. Very odd.

He was supposed to look younger. They did the CGI poorly

CGI was crap in this movie.

Aside from Professor X looking vaguely like something from "I, Robot," the bathroom scene was pathetic.

His claws were too wide to fit in his wrist, and they looked unfinished... the light was wrong, and there was no interaction with the skin, they were just stuck over the top. They also appeared to shift around on his hand from frame to frame. And what were the sparks for?

I agree with you Aero, I thought the CG on his claws was horrible in this movie. Way too cartoonish.

Something else that bothers me: why did Logan grow up to look like that guy that wasn't his dad?
htownag08
How long do you want to ignore this user?
aero I completely agree. I am not into all the CGI and all that stuff so i though a good part of the movie was well done (mainly cause i don't know any better) but my god the bathroom scene was awful. I also thought the part where he was chopping down the fire escape ladder that gambit was sitting on was just odd looking.
Ulrich

RAB, I was complaining about the lineage thing after the movie too. I thought it was Jackman in makeup playing the not-father, and I don't know why they would have done that if he weren't the father.

Then again, the guy who was the "actual" father looked just like sabertooth. Maybe they are half brothers.

Saw this last night and really enjoyed it. The CGI was weak in a few spots and the script could've used a couple of tweaks, but overall it was a fun movie. The fight at the end was cool.

i think this quote has driven me insane. i cannot make any sense out of it whatsoever.

4th wall = the barrier between the characters and the audience. Meaning deadpool talks directly to the audience.

If you already knew what that meant and were driven crazy by the fact that someone would think that was cool... that might be valid, haha.
GiveEmHellBill
How long do you want to ignore this user?
"Breaking the 4th wall"

Think of Ferris Bueller talking to the camera/audience.
GI
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Deadpool has gone much further in breaking the fourth wall than that:

He is always commenting about how "this storyline doesn't make any sense: Did they fire the old writers?"

In the orgins of Wolverine the guy that died was his dad... they had the powers just like his Grandpa. Logan was the name of a kid he killed i think... dang i cant remember i read the comic a while back.

FIXED FOR EGREGIOUS ERRORS CAUSED BY DROWSINESS

SPOILERS FOR THE COMIC BOOK:

Here's what I remember about the origin comic. There's a groundskeeper named Logan, who looks EXACTLY like Wolverine (since Wolverine's origin's are murky, the reader is supposed to be thrown off by this) who works at the Howlett estate. The head of the Howlett estate is Mr. Howlett, and he lives there with his withdrawn wife, and very sickly son, James Howlett III. Attending to his son is a maid by the name of Rose, and they know Logan's son Dog Logan.

Eventually, it is revealed that Mrs. Howlett bears claw marks across her back similar to the marks made by grown up Wolverine's claws and that her first son had died mysteriously around adolescence.

After being abused constantly by his father, Thomas Logan, Dog ends up becoming a bully in adolescence, killing James' beloved dog and trying to force himself on Rose. This misbehavior causes Logan to be fired, he then flips out, and storms the Howlett estate with a shotgun and Dog. They hold Mr. and Mrs. Howlett and Elizabeth reveals that they know each other as more than mistress/servant.

James rushes in the room in time to see Thomas Logan blow his father's brains out. James punches Dog in the face and runs at Thomas Logan. He strikes him in the chest, and it is revealed that he had popped his claws for the first time, severely scarring Dog's face, and impaling Logan. Elizabeth Howlett, seeing her lover, Thomas, killed, and her son's claws, she mutters something about "not this one, too" or something, and kills herself with the abandoned shotgun. Rose and James flee the Howlett residence convinced no one will believe what happened, and live life on the run for a while.

So pretty much:

James Howlett III: Wolverine
James Howlett Jr.: Supposed father of James
Elizabeth Howlett: Wolverine's mother, lover of Thomas Logan, the groundskeeper, possible murderer of James/Wolverine's unseen older brother
Thomas Logan: Wolverine's real father, looks identical to Wolverine
Dog Logan: Thomas Logan's son, Wolverine's half brother (it is debatable whether or not he is Sabretooth, though towards the end of the mini-series he looks exactly like a less feral Sabretooth).
Rose: Wolverine's first love, replaced by Sabretooth in the movie.

i know nada about the comic, but i took that to mean he runs off with sabertooth rather than his love (whoever that was)
Hobo Zombie

drey's right. I left it ambiguous for the lulz. My friend and I both remarked that it was pretty queer that the person he fled his home, his first love, Rose, was replaced with Sabretooth.
