Here's my take...

Allison was my favorite ever since she sang Alone in the semifinal round. It's stupid that she's not still in it, but she and Adam were probably drawing from the same fan base, so she lost votes. I think she'll have the best career out of the group.

Kris Allen is easily my favorite remaining, and his Heartless last night was by far the best of the night. He has a chance to be pretty successful, in a Jason Mraz sort of way.

Gokey seems to have faded. He's good, but he's Taylor Hicks without the gray hair and the strange mannerisms. I wonder how different these performances sound live, because I didn't think his second performance was as great as the judges did. It was good, but boring.

And I just don't get Adam Lambert. I understand how amazingly talented is. There's only a few people on the planet with that kind of range. I would guess he was incredible in Wicked. But I don't see him as commercial. His performance of One and Cryin' just left me wishing I was listening to the original version instead. He does that screech thing way too much. Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should all the time. And he seems like a pretty nice guy in his interviews, but I'm totally put off by the way the judges and producers pimp him to the audience. They let him close the show almost every week. He got, by far, the best "judge's choice" song. He gets better lighting and camerawork. And now he has Simon openly campaining for him. It's like he's the Obama of American Idol. He's beyond criticism.

he's very talented and the range is off the charts. but is he really going to sell more music than Kris Allen? I seriously doubt it.

I've said it once, I'll say it again. Queen.

I keep telling my wife that Adam needs to do a Queen song (not one of the biggies) to give his flamboyance the proper stage...I think he could make a pretty strong run at Freddy Mercury.

Kris has great production instincts. He can make anything sound cool IMHO...

forget queen, lambert would've been ok on something with better taste, like Jeff Buckley's Grace. When he uses subtelty, like Tracks of my Tears, he's enjoyable, but otherwise he just plows through everything like a bull in a china shop. he's better suited for Dokken than American Idol.

exactly, which is why lambert would sell less albums than Soul Patrol if he wins, and so would Gokey. Kris is the only one marketable with a chance of being on the radio, appealing to soccer moms who dig John Mayer

I think I would rather have Adam win at this point just so poor Kris doesn't have to attempt to sing that crap again.

I also understand a little more why the judges were always trying to push Danny to the Finals - that song is perfect for him.

I actually think it might be better for Kris to get second...

I think it will allow him to shop his deal a little better and have more artistic creativity over his album... We'll see.

I too was thinking it may be better for Kris to not when so he doesn't have to sing that awful piece of crap as his first single.

That showed exactly why you don't want to win the show. You get signed and are forced to sing crap like that. Terrible. Just terrible.

The only reason I can think of watching tonight would be if somehow Kris was to win, and to just see the look on the judge's face, that their pimping didn't work. We are going to see much more of Kris (just like Daughtry from a couple of seasons ago) then anyone else......hopefully.

Those record-deal songs that they always sing in the finale always SUK!!! Simon held his tongue in respect for Kara, but it was evident on his face how bad he thought it was. It was a complete and utter trainwreck, and the producers should be ashamed of themselves for allowing that junk to air.

Dialidol shows Kris slightly ahead of Adam. I'm guessing that Kris won the text votes, too.

Something about Kara annoys the s*** out of me. I don't think she'll be back next year.

I am really hoping tonight is Paula's last AI night.

I can accept Randy and Paula's worthlessness, for some reason.

Either way, somebody will have to leave. The flow of the show was ruined this year. In previous years, each performer was able to do two songs during the Top 5 and three songs during the Top 3. With the addition of a new judge, the show had to cut out those extra performances and they still ran over time every week.

Paula's comments were light years ahead of Kara's this year. I guess hiring Kara gave Paula a kick in her dazed and confused rear. Kara was supposed to bring some current songwriter/producer insight; turns out she's worthless.

I always figured Kara was brought in to phase Paula out after a few seasons. However, at this point I think they should just cut her and keep Paula. While Paula is still pretty useless and annoying this year, I think she improved from last season when she was a total disaster. Randy is the producer judge...and he and Kara seemed to agree 95% of the time anyway. The audience (and contestants) only care about Simon, the rest of them are just filler...

This show is d-o-n-e if Simon ends up leaving after next season. Fox should pay the man 100 mil+ if that's what it takes...because if he leaves, the show will instantly halve it's audience and billion-whatever revenue.

Agree Kara is useless. I also just figured out who Adam Lambert is. I didn't really like any of the contestants this season.

When I heard it announced that he was singing this remarkable Sam Cooke song, I almost turned it off.

Adam sucks balls. Literally. Tons of talent, but so freaking weird he'll never get off the ground. He's going to lose a TON of votes because the judges were so blatantly pimping him.

Plus, Kris is dreamy (according to my wife), so he should win.
