Ghost in the Machine (I remember watching this movie as a kid. Horrible plot....only redeeming quality was the babysitter character that showed her cleavage for a bit)

The funny thing about I, Robot is that the basic premise of the plot is the complete opposite of how Isaac Asimov wrote the book:

Movie: The public is easily won over by the idea of robots. But the main robot computer betrays humanity.

Book: The public is always scared and prejudice against robots. Main robot computers really do have humanity's best interest at heart. Even when the robots are acting peculiar they really are following the 3 laws.

Don't forget COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT (1970). America builds a supercomputer, which can think for itself. It announces "...there is another system," and promptly hooks up with a similar computer in Moscow. The two hook up to rule the world since people have messed up the job so badly.

It's a true science fiction film, not horror in disguise.

Short Circuit?

Maximum Overdrive is another to add to the list.

Eagle Eye is up there with Wing Commander and Four Christmases as my biggest waste of time in the movie theater, EVER.

That's why we have Redbox.



Oh, and Flight of the Navigator the computer actually tries to help the humans out, if I remember right.

In Tron, the Master Control Program was talking about taking over the Defense Department's computers.

Going all WOPR-like on the USSR was probably an inevitability.

What about the BCS...? ...oh wait....

I, Robot is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

Wall-E. Except that the Earth is already somewhat destroyed and the computer was trying to keep humans from returning to it. So I guess the computer was looking out for us stupid humans after all.

Computer - 1, Humans - 0

In HAL's defense he just tried to kill David Bowman and Frank Poole because of paranoia. Not the entire human race.
They were plotting to shut him down first.

Collossus, the Forbin Project? I thought I was the only insomniac who watches Sci-Fi network. Good movie; I love how the computer puts hits out on people that defy his rules.

Data from Star Trek doesn't try to murder his shipmates. He actually wants to become human. Although, he did start to develop a little harder attitude in the later movies.

The I, Robot computer was not trying to destroy humanity. Also, it was a robot that helped stopped the central computer from basically becoming the central government.
