Very disappointing.

I feel like the movie had so much potential but it couldn't really decide what kind of movie it wanted to be.

I'm not sure why I didn't care for it. It could be that it was just poorly edited. I thought the acting was great... I really like Craig. I just didn't care for the flow of the story.

I feel kinda the same way. I won't say I didn't like it, but I was a little disappointed. I did feel that the movie struggled for an identity. was it action, was it schindler's list? I think it tried to meet in the middle and it just didn't work for me.

Craig's accent was a little distracting, but overall I thought he was pretty good.

how is it compared to Valkrie?

I liked Defiance better. The actors in Defiance actually attempted to do accents. In Valkyrie they didn't even attempt to do German accents, they just let Tom Cruise act Tom Cruise. They were both great movies though.

Just saw it tonight. Didn't see it in theaters because I read too many reviews saying it could have been amazing, but fell short.

IMO...the movie was very entertaining. I think there could have been a better flow to the story, but at the same time, I think the story the writers/director envisioned just took too long of a time to get down in 1 film, so they tried their best to show the highs and lows.

Some of the character development was sketchy, but overall I think it was a solid film.

Very glad I rented it.

I've never understood this argument. They were Germans, therefore they would have been speaking German, not English. That being the case, why would they have an accent?
To me, the movie that really got it right was Enemy At The Gates. The Russians were played by English actors, the Germans by American actors. Created different accents without going the fake Russian or German accent route (which again, makes no sense anyway).

it's like, what would it sound like to teh native audience of that language/dialect. so to americans (the primary audience of the film), it would sound like our normal talk since it was native to the country.

and the germans would sound different to the russians, therefore you use the english accents as it sounds different to us.

either that, or perhaps they were like who cares we just want Ed Harris in this role because he's a good actor.

i like your point though. i'm a movie aficionado and i never thought about this. kudos.

I agree that it's dumb to expect the actors to speak in English, but with the accents of the language they'd actually be speaking.

I thought Defiance was fantastic. Perhaps mostly because it was a story I'd never known about and found extraordinary. I like Valkyrie but liked Defiance better. I still don't see why they cast Daniel Craig, however. I like him and think he's great, but he's the least Jewish-looking person imaginable for the part. He's got Aryan Nazi written all over him.

I really enjoyed the movie. I actually thought it was paced pretty well but fell a little short in some of the character development.

Gave it a 4/5 on Netflix.

Why do that? They transitioned from German to English at the very beginning.

Saw it yesterday. Good movie and a great story.
