I saw him in concert in Bristol, TN a few years ago in a small, old theater, and for the third and final encore they did an acoustic version of Billy Joe Shaver's "Live Forever." It was amazing!

But, as for recordings, Feelin Good Again tops my list.

"Mr. Wolf and Mama Bear" isn't quite my favorite of his, but close, due to the sheer genius it takes to write something like that. Even moreso that it's based on a true story.

And don't forget, "Mr. Wolf and Mama Bear" was on the same album as "The Great Hank." It takes a songwriting genius to come up stories like those.

FWIW, he claims that "The Great Hank" is based on a true story. I kid you not.

Paint the Town Beige is my favorite right now. It sums up my life at this time.

I could listen to Death of Tail Fitzimmons all day and never get tired of it.

Ha. Gotta little story for ya, CBB.

I used to work with a guy who lived in the house between Robert and Lyle Lovett at A&M. He had some great stories about those two. This guy's roommate was named Brian Fitzsimmons, who had a dog with the ever-inventive name of "Tail". As you could probably guess, Tail died, and they all had a party to celebrate the life of Tail Fitzsimmons, for which Robert decided to write a song.
