I am a huge Star Wars fan, but I waited until Saturday to see the film. I was a little disappointed, but all in all, it was a good flick.

The Good:

Natalie Portman is hot, and acted beautifully in the film.

The cgi and special effects were incredible.

The jedi fight scenes and Yoda's fight scene were awesome.

It was cool to see Owen and Beru as youngsters.

It was cool to see Boba Fett as a kid.

It was very entertaining.

The Bad:

The love story, while I believe it should have been an integral part of the film for many reasons, was poorly done. The lines that Christensen was forced to speak were cheesy, lame, and forced. I don't necessarily think he is a bad actor, but his lines mad him look bad. The rolling around in the field and riding the dinobuffalo were just painful to watch. Lucas should hire someone else to write the dialogue, and he should stick to writing the overall storyline.

The dialogue between Dooku and Yoda before their lightsaber fight was horrible. Something to the effect of:

"Since it is obvious we are equals at throwing electricity at each other (otherwise known as "knowledge of the force"...WTF? ), we must now decide this with our skills with the lightsaber"

Talk about forced. I can just see two soldiers in the Civil War shooting at each other for a while until they meet in the center of the battlefield, then stopping. One of the says, "Since our shooting skills are both equal, we must now see who wins by fighting with our bayonets."

I thought the lightsaber scene kicked ass though.

natalie is hot, but her acting was horrible. The clincher was the in the battle scene in the end after she gets knocked off of the clone trooper ship. She is on the ground, groaning in pain, then when one of the troopers comes up, she jumps up like and acts perfectly fine. talk about stupid, I was laughing my ass off at that scene.

I think Natalie Portman is a good actress, but the writing in some of the scenes was a little shallow, though not as bad as some are saying. I think several of the normally solid actors suffered from writing that was not condusive to their acting styles in a few scenes. It must be something about Lucas, because Harrison Ford was know to complain about his Han Solo lines in the old trilogy.

Yeah, I think it is a recurring topic that George Lucas needs help in the dialogue department. Lines seemed forced and out of place. This may havs to do with trying to fit a story into three movies (Han and Lea love story isn't nearly as out of place), but then I don't go see these movies because of dialogue. There is a double standard with me and Star War films. As long as I am entertained with the overall story line then I am willing to spend $8.50 on it. Looking back on it the movie had a very B movie feel.

BTW, Natalie Portman is a beautiful girl, and very talented. You can tell is some of her other movies.

yea, that's what bothered me. i always considered Natalie a good actress, but found this to be just about her worst performance.

And Alec Guiness couldn't stand his lines in the original either. He thought they were dreadful and childish...I can just here him saying that in his British accent.

After watching how Yoda fights, why the hell does he need that stupid cane?

So his enemies will underestimate him just as Dooku did.

Yoda fights like that by using the force to move around. Force powers can be exhausted, so he can't do that all the time, and needs the cane for non-force-assisted movement.

The dialogue was horrible and the acting was worse. Portman's best performance was her first - Matilda in "The Professional". The special effects are all that save this movie. This is a very disappointing product.Hopefully Lucas' next effort will be much better.

The dialog is supposed to be that way. The original Star Wars was a B movie that made it big. It is just how Lucas wanted it.

"The dialogue was horrible and the acting was worse."

Have you ever even seen the original trilogy? Those who watch any Star Wars movie for academy award calibre acting performances will be disappointed. Those who watch them to be entertained will not.

BTW, the acting and dialogue were not horrible, overall. There were some scenes where the acting was quite weak, but others where it was very good, so the acting was a bit of a mixed bag with a few well acted scenes offsetting a few poorly acted ones.

Of course the dialog from Anakin in the love sequences was forced and awkward. This kid has been locked up in a monastery since he was a lil' munchkin and now he's talking to a real live girl for the first time. And it's Natalie Portman! Think back to the first time you tlked to Suzie whatshername back in junior high. Do you expect him to be some smooth operator with mad game?

I believe Suzie Rottencrotch was her name...
