a note on Catwoman: she wouldn't have to dress as a cat. The fact that she is a cat burglar and a woman would be enough to gain her that moniker. I would see her just wearing some sort of black fatigues/body suit while she was prowling.

a thought just came to me:

TCTTS and others said that Batman would be fighting with himself, etc and we keep talking about who could be a villain. how about this storyline:

Talia comes to Gotham looking for her father, finds out what happened to him, blames batman/bruce, but instead of trying to get revenge, she wants bruce to take Ras' place as leader of the league of shadows. in order to do this, she commits crimes, starts robbing places, killing criminals, but frames batman to make it look like he committed them, which turns the police and public even more against him. while she's doing all this, she's getting closer and closer to bruce wayne, makes him fall in love with her, and she keeps telling him how he's no longer wanted/needed in gotham and tries to convince him to leave. she almost does so to the point where he destroys just about all of batman's stuff until he finds out what she's been doing and has to stop/fight her without most of his gadgets.

how does that sound?

Great post TCTTS, some god insight.
Following your idea that the third movie really has Batman as the villain, and is a redemption movie for Batman. Caped Crusader would be a good title. A little cheesy yes, but not if his crusade is to redeem himself and Gotham to become a true hero.
Two Face would also be a good villain. He could be working with the cops to hunt Batman, and also with the mob/criminals to hunt Batman. Meanwhile serving his own unknown purposes. Here's where you could bring in a minor villain to be his number 2 figurehead for the mob. Killer Croc or Black Mask could be working with Two Face for evil. Two Face is really behind the scenes running both.
In Nolan's world, Killer Cros doesn't have to be an actual crocodile. Just a huge former wrestler who likes to bite stuff or something.

They should look into doing something along the lines of the storyline from the comics where Ra determined Bane as a suitable heir to his legacy, even though Talia still had feelings for Batman.

Count me as one who thinks a Bane done right would fit in very well with that Nolan is doing.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but isn't Bane an Eastern European mastermind in the comics?

Bane is South American

I don't think they'll go near it since Joel ruined the character, but I'd love nothing more than to see Mr. Freeze (The animated version, not the crap in the comics) done correctly. Michael Ansara had the character done perfectly though I wouldn't want to see him do it visually.

don't tell me. I like the comic book character but the batman and robin one just went around repeating the same word over and over again. Bane as a roided up retard was dumb.

The character in the comics is intellectually/physically on par with batman, basically a bad version version of batman (both orphaned growing into highly disciplined adults).

when I see the film again sometime this week, I'll pay closer attention to his supposed breathing, etc.

Make no mistake, either Eckhart is not a good actor when playing dead or Two-Face did not die immediately upon impact. His chest undeniably exhibited signs of at least one breath.

Great info. Here's some other villains that would work but are fairly unknown.

Hugo Strange or Deadshot would be good.

Did the comics make him as sympathetic as the cartoon did? I liked that his motivations were ethically grey. He wasn't committing crimes (well for the most part) out of malice or evil but rather out of a broken heart and love for his wife. I think it could play very well on film if they could keep the camp down and not go overboard with the effects. Not sure they'll go that way though as so far they've been very grounded in reality as far as villain's powers go. The problem is they'll quickly run out of Batman villains that they can do that with.

no one has any comments on my thoughts on the third film?

He has evolved over time, and even worked with Batman some I believe. The animated series didn't stupefy him like shumacher did but they did mute him. He I believe the only character to actually beat Batman (at least as badly as he did) in the comics.

If they could combine knightfall(without the apprentice stuff) and bane of the demon, that would make a great film.

He is good villain for Nolan imo because he is basically Bruce Wayne without the benefit of the Wayne empire. So he cuts corners to get that sort of power, crime, steroid like drugs, etc.

Ra at one point considered him his equal (Batman was the only other person he put on this level).

Both Killer Croc and Deadshot were featured in the Gotham Knight cartoons, taking place between Begins and Dark Knight. Croc was an abnormally large/strong former inmate of Arkham that filed his teeth to points. Because of this, I doubt they would be featured in the third film.

I have a hunch that it might be the Black Mask because he serves as a good foil to Batman due to his back story (He was the son of millionaires who failed at running a company which was sold to Wayne Enterprises. As such he hates Wayne, not Batman). This could really heighten the exploration of duality between Bruce Wayne/Batman. Additionally Nolan considered using him in TDK, but decided that Dent was a better tragic figure.

I thought Harvey Dent's purpose was to serve as an example of the thin line between good and bad.

aggieteach84 - In so many words, that's pretty much was I was thinking as to how Talia could be used. I don't think she would be quite THAT important or instrumental, but I like the idea.

My take (and granted, I'm not a Batman efficianado or anything):

Dent's character arc was the whole point of TDK. The Joker was the catalyst, but the plot moved on Dent's storyline. It was an examination on the thin line between good and evil and how neither is an absolute. His arc was complete at the end of the movie. So count me in the camp that thinks he is dead.

Plus, in Nolan's "real world" feel, a guy with half his face burnt off with gaping rotting flesh would die of infection in about 24 hours.

bale signed a contract for 3 films, so he WILL be back, however they have already said that the joker will NOT be in the next movie because they didnt want to feel like that were betraying ledger...and as for the harvy dent quote i think it ended up being about him self...they will bring two face back and probally one more villan...i would love the riddler because i like twisted people...but who know...o and there will be no robin if bale ahs anythign to say about it...that is all i know atm

You heard it here first - Dr. Hugo Strange. He's just non-mainstream enough to still be interesting. As the cops continue to hunt down Batman, finding out his identity will become paramount. Gordon will work to keep this from happening, but there is only so much he can do when the the force begins to work with Hugo Strange, a psychologist/ criminal profiler with a very dark side that no one knows about. His obsession with Batman and his potential discovery of who Batman is will be a big problem for Batman and Gordon. I also think there will be another villain at-large, in keeping with the formula of the first two movies. My guess is Catwoman for the sex appeal and playing off the cat comment in TDK.

I wonder how marvel would like that batman battling dr. strange.

It isn't a bad choice, and fits into the year one motif. He just has to be written and acted well.

I suspect Nolan and co. could make maxie zeus a decent villain on the screen.

I wrote that because I heard Marvel might be planning a Dr. Strange movie (I think they made a DTV one back in the nineties).

I wonder if they used the character would they have to refer to him as Hugo Strange or Dr. Hugo Strange all the time.

i agree that i think they'll go 'low-key' for the next criminal.

it wont be the maintstream villains like joker, riddler, penguin, freeze, etc...

i think it'll be someone else. i like the story idea/angle of having a serial killer on the loose and and somehow combining it with the hunt for Batman. i would love to have the next Batman installment have a se7en type feel to it.

That is the best scenario I've heard yet. I love it. that would take the title "two face" to another level. great idea, i would love to see that in Batman3
