i've had my ring about 2 weeks and already it has lost quite a bit of the shine it had. What have you guys used to clean it up a bit that doesn't involve me going to a jeweler or spending more than about 2 dollars?

toothpaste works...but usually soap & water whenever i wash my hands are good enough for me.

Any jeweler in the mall will drop it in a jewelry cleaner for free.

don't use silver polish on gold.

the jewelry cleaner in the red container from Walmart works really well, and it comes with its own brush if you don't have an extra toothbrush handy.

I got this Aggie Ring cleaner stuff as a stocking stuffer. Some Aggie Moms club sells it and I don't really know what's in it, but it works really well.

And an old toothbrush.

Old toothbrush with soap.

After that, dry it and then spritz some Windex on it. Wipe the windex off with clean paper towel. Overt your eyes, it will be shinny.

Do the same thing as fed, but I use toothpaste instead of soap. Works awesome.

Old toothbrush? I just use my current toothbrush. You wouldn't believe how clean your teeth will get with the jewelry cleaner residue left over from cleaning your ring.

Windex and a toothbrush. Best shine ever.

1) Go to Hollick's
2) Buy a tube of "Puma"
3) Use it very sparingly on your ring
4) Rinse off your ring with Windex

Best shine ever.

I bought my tube in the Spring of '95 to shine my spurs. It's still 3/4 full. When I say sparingly, I mean SPARINGLY....a little of this stuff goes A LONG way.

As an aside, I think it's hilarious how cautious and careful Ags with their new rings are. In a year or two if that thing happens to come off of your finger and bounce around on the floor for awhile, you won't think twice about it and just pick it up and drive on!

Now the thing that I call livin' is just bein' satisfied with knowin' I got no one else to blame

I was asking this same question in reference to aggie ring, wedding rings, etc. However, I was told NOT to use toothpaste because it is not good for the finish. I find that warm water and soap is good. Also, a friend of mine told me that her jeweler said to soak it in vodka. Seems to work.

Be careful with toothpaste, it can damage the finish and color depending on the what kind it is. One of those jar of gold cleaning solution is perfect plus they used have a brush. Warm water and a mild soap are always good too.

Hmm, I've been using silver polish on my ring for the last 17 years and it looks fine to me...
