a friend of mine told me J.D. Huntley died and they said it was because he stepped on a mysterious object. Does anyone know what that was?

last post of the night..

he actually died from a blood infection stemming from the object he stepped on. He had surgery to sterilize the infected area but it was too late, the infection got into his bloodstream. Read an article a while back in the eagle, sad story.

He was a good guy. Resized my ring and gave me a watch battery for free.

I didn't know he had died until just the other day when one of my friends was mentioning that I guy he worked with had just nearly died from the same thing. That's a shame, I used to hear his commercials all the time on 99.5 the Fox, and he always seemed like a really nice guy, and one who was unabashedly supportive of the troops, Texas A&M, and America.

John used to live a few houses down from me. He was always out walking with his wife and children around our neighborhood. I heard he step on something in the drive that cut his foot pretty bad, he even went to the ER for treatment. Apparently he developed some sort of infection that went into his blood very quickly. I think he stepped on it on a friday evening and he died on Sunday or Monday - around Jan 1, this year. It happened before anyone realized how seriously ill he was.

Didn't the same thing happen to Jack Daniels after he kicked a safe?

<rumor mill> from what I heard they amputated his leg but it was just too bad. It's a shame, he was a nice guy and very active in the community.

I did not know that he died. How sad and tragic, especially leaving behind a 5 year old.

funny how you should bring this up......

my wife knows a nurse from the hospital that JDH was in and a conversation came up about him. The nurse informed my wife that Huntley did not get the infection from the object he stepped on.

It occurred at the hospital!!

Staph infections are more prevalent in hospitals than in your home simply based on the nature of the infection; it requires an open wound or similar entryway into the body. Staph bacteria live on your skin. It's there whether you realize it or not. When you're in the "right" environment, the bacteria have an easy in to the bloodstream.

It doesn't matter what he stepped on. It caused a puncture wound that required emergency medical care. Unforunately, although increasing in numbers, staph infections are incredibly dangerous.

fly nailed it. Staph is everywhere - all it needs is an "in."
