I just aquired about 50gb or so of music, and I've put it all in my iTunes program. However, if the iPod automatically updates when you plug it in, what happens if you have more music than fits? I only have a 20gb iPod, so is there any way I can choose what goes on and what doesn't?

i don't have that much music yet, but i've heard that you can create a smart folder that has only the songs you want on the iPod... that way you can update the folder as you wish...

copy, I said copy the original files to another folder and play around with it.

I say this without owning an IPOD. I say copy so that you have back ups incase something fails.

You can "un-check" the songs you do not want to load onto your ipod. Click the box to the left of the song in your library and any unchecked song won't load onto the ipod.

To make sure you have this featured enabled, when your ipod is connected, click "edit" "preferences" and you can make sure you have the option selected that says something like "load only checked songs" or something like that.

Yeah do what CJ said in addition to the smart playlists. It is what I have... hence the most intelligent way.

in iTunes right click your ipod. Select manually manage.
