I'll even give an example -- I have a bracelet and charms from the camp I went to and they are over 20 years old and in perfect condition....

I don't like it either, Lacy...I have no clue why it's so popular. Personally though, I really don't go there because they are known for their silver , not gold. And I'm a gold kinda gal. Also, I can't afford to go jewelry shopping.

My wife has a charm bracelet from there with loads of charms to choose from for it. She doesn't ever wear it anymore - I guess she's grown out of that look - I don't know.

The stuff seems fairly good quality to me though. I have an A&M keychain from there that one of my high school teachers gave me for graduation.

euro, I don't wear my charm bracelet, but I have one charm for every Christmas that i've lived in Texas on it. And I plan on adding to it every year until I have to start a new one. My sisters and I all have them. It's sort of a family tradition, now, if you must know.

It is high quality for sterling silver.

I think the place is stuffy and cold. I had to go there earlier to get some going away gifts. You actually have to take a number and wait to be helped... I was ready way before the people in front of me too.

People dissing on James Avery probably prefer Target jewelry!

From a guy standpoint:

I like silver a lot more than gold, which I often find gawdy.

I have a couple of pairs of their cuff-links, key chain, ring, and a pocket piece.

Their products are inexpensive but well made, and they are very accesible on lost, replaced, phased out items.

Its easy to shop for someone there, and get them something nice but not very expensive.

I have a charm bracelet as well. The bracelets are more keepsakes than jewelry.
I also wear a gold necklace with a small gold cross charm that I got for Christmas a couple of years ago, and a small aTm charm that my dad gave to my mom when they married, and my mom gave to me when I got my acceptance letter.

Then thats the people in front of you's fault for pulling a number before they were ready. It is MUCH nicer like that than a normal shopping experience. Very organized and clearcut.

And Lacy, I have never had to take a number and wait to be helped, and I shop at James Avery often with my sisters.

Eh, I have a bracelet from there and it's alright. We got my mom a charm bracelet last year. I was a little disappointed that they were forced to stop selling the ATM charm. They still have the Howdy though. And no, I don't shop for jewelry at Target. I just think J.A. is way overrated.

I have a cross necklace from there that I love. I also agree that it seems to be a high quality sterling silver. I like a lot of their designs as well.

Also, if I were to get a gift from James Avery vs say something from Target, it would seem to me a little more thought had been put into it.

I had a pair of earrings from there that belonged to my mother in law, who passed away a few years ago. I accidentally left them on the top bunk of my parents RV and when we slid the bed back, the back of one of the earrings was shorn off. I was devastated because they really mean a lot to me, and was nervous about telling my husband (after all, they were his mom's). I went to the store here (at Christmas time). They couldn't just replace the earring, because this particular pattern (the dogwood blossom) is out of production, so they took both earrings and sent them to the factory where they fixed the broken one and cleaned both (they tarnish slightly over the years). The had them back to me in 2 weeks, good as new. The cost - ZERO. They were covered under a lifetime warranty. Try that with pretty much any other place. The store here is a little snooty, (not any more so than any other jewelry shop) but the products are good and they stand behind them.

The only time they use the number thing is during the Christmas season because that place is packed.

I have several rings and necklaces from there that I got back in junior high. I still wear one of my rings.

I too have a key chain that I LOVE (I have the St. Peters key one).

I think its great jewlery for high school aged populations, and it easily carries over to college aged people. Their stones are crap but its not a place known for their stones.

And - the store in CS is not very representative of all the JA stores. I went to the original in Kerrville once and it was amazing. Not at all stuffy & snooty like this one is.

I've never been to the one here in CS. I prefer the one in Kingwood, they are very pleasant there.

Worked for Avery as a teenager and he is very hands-on and concerned w/ quality. You definitely get good stuff there.

My daddy gave me a JA necklace and A&M charm for my 18th birthday. I've lost it since I've lived where I do... and I've been very sad.

I've already found a bracelet I forgot I had while packing since I'm moving on Thursday... keep your fingers crossed that I find my necklace. It means a lot to me... even if it is "James Avery crap."

I have a James Avery charm bracelet that I got when I was 9 [I'm now 22]. It's able to withstand the weight of my 114 charms. No joke.

Had mine since I was 10. Don't wear it but keep it for sentimental value, especially since I am hardly ever home.
