About how many gallons are left in a 16 gallon gas tank when the light comes on? Its a 2004 Toyota Solara (same engine as a Camry).

Gas is $3.05 here by the office and $2.95 by my house.

check your owner's manual, probably 2 to 3 gallons

Risk running your car out of gas on the tollway, or pay the extra $1.60...I would go ahead and fill up.

10 miles direct or 10 miles sitting in traffic at 5:30?

Pony up the extra dollar and change and get gas at the office. Or get a gallon or so at the office and fill up at the house if it makes you feel better.

Because I don't like that gas station. They're always more expensive and the pumps are the slowest ever...

I'll probably do it just to be safe but I won't be happy about it. Thanks for the advice.

I've had a lot of Toyotas - my experience is the low fuel light comes on with about a gallon and a half left.

Put a gallon in at $3.05, then fill up at $2.95.

Only costs you $0.10 and you won't run out of gas on the road.
