Pretty sure it is a franchise requirement.

it would be very uncommon for a certain store within a franchise to cook something differently then the other stores within the franchise. especially a franchise like CF, i would think that if one uses them, they all use em. they put alot of emphasis on uniformity.

Plus CFA makes money off of the products that they require the franchisees to buy.

I had a discussion about this with one of my foodservice vendors a long time ago. I believe he told me there are refining processes that can minimize the risk for those with allergies. I forget what the actual process is called.

CFA DOES use peanut oil. They claim that because of the way it is refined it is unlikely to cause allergic reaction in those with peacut allergies. Let me see if I can find it online. I just saw it on a nutritional info brochure in the store this week.

The following information is for individuals with food allergies. If you have an allergy, we recommend that you consult with your physician prior to making a decision as to whether or not to eat any Chick-fil-A® product.

Note: All breaded chicken products and waffle fries are cooked in 100% pure peanut oil. Please visit our Menu and Ingredients page for a list of ingredients.

Peanut Oil
We have been using refined (heat processed) peanut oil exclusively since our founder created the Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich in the early 1960s. He found it to be the purest oil to use and better tasting to customers. We label our foil bags and Chick-fil-A Nugget boxes informing customers of our use of peanut oil.

The following information regarding the use of oils and food allergies was obtained from the International Food Information Council Foundation.*

Q. Are oils derived from foods that can cause allergy, such as peanut oil, also allergenic?

A. Not usually. Most commercial oils such as peanut oil are highly refined (hot solvent extracted), which removes protein from the product. These types of oil are most commonly used in commercial food preparation. Since it is protein in allergenic foods that causes food allergy, highly refined oils are non-allergenic. Research has shown that individuals with a severe peanut allergy have not had reactions to heat processed oils. However, people with a food allergy should avoid “gourmet” or cold pressed oils because they may contain allergenic proteins, which provide the flavor to the oil. For the same reason, oils that have been used to fry potentially allergenic foods should be avoided by allergic individuals.
