Why do you think I said 'agreed'? I was just making a comment. Reading comprehension, apparently you don't have it.

The problem is people don't even think about family pets having to adjust to a baby. As soon as you know a kid is on the way you should start getting the dogs ready for it. That is a BIG change for a dog, the crying, the smells, the attention etc.

And I was responding to your comment. Reading comprehension ever heard of it? You had a situation where dogs didnt care about the barrier, and I have a situation where they do. You told yours, but I'm not allowed to tell mine because its different from yours? That how it works now?

I completely agree with you about preparing the dog for a baby's arrival.

That post wasn't directed at you, that was directed at Herman or whatever the hell his name is.

Huskies are great dogs... The dog I had as a boy, Kodiak, was a husky. She was a devoted pet and member of the family, and as long as you were WITH family, she was friendly and playful.

If strangers approached her, she was not. She was definitely all bite and no bark.

I feel that I can respond to this post because I have both a newborn baby and a husky (named Kodiak!) I have witnessed firsthand how the dog has already accepted the baby and relinquished his position in the household.

My husband and I did all we could to establish the fact that things were going to change in the household. We let him smell the new clothes and diapers so that he could get used to it. We introduced the baby to him and let him smell our son.

The dog has been very gentle with the baby. We had our first instance with tail pulling this week and Kodiak sat there and did not react except to look at me with a "Mom, he's touching me!" attitude.

All that being said, I still use common sense.

In memory of my dog, Kodiak, I insist you rename yours.

Dog outside.

Baby inside.

Problem solved.

When I was a kid we had a Husky and he was a pretty good dog. I think alot of it had to do with us bringing him with us when we traveled and really treating him like a part of the family. If he hadn't bitten me several times and killed one of the neighbor kids, I think we could have kept him alot longer. None of this is true but I just wanted to be a part of the discussion. Hope this helps.
