According to a message board, it's the phonetic spelling of the czech word for navel (pupeck).
quote:
I had asked about the Krumke and Brade families and namess and also the town of Bredow.
However, it puzzles me that my Great Grandparents spoke German in Texas and I grew up with certain words that I don't know what they mean!
Schatze means Sweetheart or Treasure. Correct?
Dumkopf means not smart?
schuptnagel means???
and (Spelling?) Pupeck (pronounced 'poo-peck'was
referred to for our navels or our "belly-buttons".
No one else German knows this term. However, a Czech friend in Texas, her family calls 'poo-peck' in the same way.
Seems silly but could someone help me with these
family terms? Danke
