An Ag in the office asked me if I have ever heard of it. He was there back in the late 80's - early 90's.

Any ol' Ags have some stories about that place?

I remember legends of K ramp launching stuff (fruit primarily if I recall) out the window with a water-balloon launcher and bombarding the patio tables there. Don't know if it really happened, but it sure would have been fun to watch.

I remember the Flying Tomato. Never ate there. Then it became a Two Pesos (?) and was decent. I never thought that it would survive as Fitzwilly's.......boy was I wrong.

Some guy used to sing really profane country songs there.

Remember it. Never ate there. I had my standards for Northgate food...Cow Hop and Duddleys only.

You should have ordered the "Aggie Special", it was excellent.

My bosses son uses a pitcher from the Flying Tomato in the bathtub and it brings a tear to my bosses eye. One day, it may be filled with beer.

Even before it was the Flying Tomato, it was called the Alamo, and looked like a replica. For a while when it was Flying Tomato, they were serving buckets of long necks on crushed ice. I was there one nice spring day when a monster snow-ball fight broke out with the crushed ice. They stopped serving the buckets of beer after that.

He used to sing one called "Nine Coronas" to the tune of My Sharona. If I remember right it was an uplifting story about bagging an ugly chick after drinking too much beer.

Didn't Sneaky Pete play on Wednesdays?
Good times.

After it changed from Two Pesos to Fitz, I remember there being lawsuits against them and soon after the company went bankrupt I believe. There were a couple in Houston that closed within a few months after they closed on Northgate.

I thought Sneaky Pete played at some hole in the wall place between Duddley's and the Cow Hop, in the spot now occupied by Freebirds.

Sneaky Pete played at the FT.

Eddie is right. Sneaky Pete was not a Flying Tomato exclusive entertainer. He also would play at the Cow Hop Annex which is now occupied by Freebirds.

As for launching stuff from K-ramp [I only witnessed water balloons] Funny stuff, b/c everyone at FT would think it was the guys in Schumacher doing the launching. Mad people from FT would go over to Schumacher and yell and threaten to throw dorm rats over the railing.

Does anyone remember MC^2? The place where guys would wear skirts and eye liner and dance with each other? LOL

The Flying Tomato was a good place for cheep beer and good pizza (square) slices. They used to have one in Denton, but I haven't been there in a while.

They also used to bring that huge tomato hot air balloon to town and fly it around campus and wherever the wind took them.

Two Pesos had all you could eat mexican food on Sunday nights for around 5 bucks. No buffet, you just kept going back and ordering. Greatness.

Oh the Wednesday nights with Sneaky Pete. He did play at the F.T. and the Cow Hop Annex, wasn't it something like the Sunset Grill before that. As a freshman, we hardly missed a Wednesday night there.

Sneaky Pete would also play "Margaritaville" and everybody would through the salt shakers on the table at each other. They soon wised up and removed all the salt shakers before Sneaky Pete would sing.

Good times.

FT had the best pizza, and a tomato balloon that flew on games days. I still have a pitcher from there.

I remember the transition from the FT to Two Peso's. Sneaky Pete also played at the Northgate Cafe upstairs, if I recall.
