last night. Girlfriend, who's 20 (i'm 24), said she's confused, and somehow doesn't think she's "in-love" with me anymore. Said that her feelings suddenly changed this past Monday, and she loves me so much and blah blah blah,. Problem is, we've been dating for 6 and a half months, and just recently hit that 'plateau' where the honeymoon period ends, and for the last couple weeks we've been arguing a lot. She's never been in a relationship that lasted longer than 2 or 3 months before me. I don't know what in the world happened. Needless to say, I'm confused and upset...today sucks.

Get a new girlfriend and move on. It won't do any good that you care for this one..if she's not into you anymore. If she realizes that you're the one..and she's into you again, she'll go out of her way to be with you.

Me...... Two weeks ago. We've been going out for 7 months (I think....). Funny, I decided to quit drinking instead.

Edit: It wasen't that big of a deal. I actually went out with some other girls on the side since she travelled alot.

Take the George Costanza "Exact Opposite" approach, and play it hard. Go out and start casually dating until you have at least three non-serious options to turn to. Make it your goal. You'll be surprised at the results. Maybe the ex comes around, maybe she doesn't.....at that point WHO CARES?

rwilson, sorry to hear that man. Getting dumped is definitely one of the worst feelings in the world. Take the time you need to heal. Stay busy with friends. It sounds like she's like every other college girl out there. She wants the excitment of dating, but once that's gone she wants out. I got dumped that way too my senior year. It sucked. There are other girls out there who are serious about being in a relationship and realize that it takes work.

Its tough, especially in the midst of studying for law school finals. But that's what was supposed to happen, I guess. It all happens for a reason, they say. We'll see.

Probably the best thing to do is not call her and let her think things through. I know that is the hardest thing to do, but give her a chance to miss you. You don't want her to think you're waiting around on her (even if you are). In the meantime, you might just meet someone else or realize that things have worked out for the best. In any case, things will get better! Breakups are always hard at first, but everyone survives them. Usually the worst thing to do is to chase after someone. It usually pushes them away. When you get the urge to call her, call a friend.

By the way, it has to hurt that she keeps sending IMs like that. You'd do your best to ignore it, even if she knows that you are ignoring her. She doesn't need to have that control over you. SHE decided to break up with you, but yet SHE can't let go. Let her go for now and she what happens.

I agree w/ what AggieChicken said. You don't need to be her comfort while she gets through this.

Not everything happens for a reason, but God allows certain things to happen. We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. Find comfort in Him.

Seeeeriously.... Boys aren't overly sensitive douches who cry about everything and easily get hurt feelings and make little things into bigger things that they're not.
